Over them

  1.   3 And he passed over before them, and abowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
  2.   20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh’s.
  3.   11 Therefore they did set over them ataskmasters to afflict them with their bburdens. And they built for Pharaoh ctreasure cities, Pithom and dRaamses.
  4.   14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?
  5.   21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people aable men, such as bfear God, cmen of truth, hating dcovetousness; and place such over them, to be erulers of thousands, and rulers of fhundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
  6.   2 That the princes of Israel, aheads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:
  7.   16 ¶ And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me aseventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and bofficers over them; and bring them unto the ctabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
  8.   14 And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou Lord art aamong this people, that thou Lord art seen face to face, and that thy bcloud standeth over them, and that thou cgoest before them, by day time in a dpillar of a ecloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.
  9.   8 And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the Lord spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
  10.   8 The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us.
  11.   11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the Lord in Mizpeh.
  12.   7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the avoice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have brejected me, that I should not creign over them.
          •  •  •
      9 Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet aprotest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the bking that shall creign over them.
  13.   20 And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the aprophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
  14.   2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
  15.   7 Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye avaliant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
  16.   1 And David numbered the people that were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them.
  17.   17 But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of aJudah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
  18.   22 ¶ And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made aGedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.
  19.   11 ¶ And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salchah:
  20.   32 And Mikloth begat Shimeah. And these also dwelt with their brethren in Jerusalem, over against them.
  21.   20 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the ruler over them in time past, and the Lord was with him.
  22.   26 And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:
  23.   11 ¶ Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the Lord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.
  24.   8 Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the Lord thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.
  25.   17 But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
  26.   28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies;
  27.   9 Also Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, were over against them in the watches.
          •  •  •
      24 And the chief of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise and to give athanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward over against ward.
          •  •  •
      37 And at the afountain gate, which was over against them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward.
      38 And the other company of them that gave thanks went over against them, and I after them, and the half of the people upon the wall, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even unto the broad wall;
  28.   1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king’s acommandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)
  29.   14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have adominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
  30.   41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
  31.   26 A wise aking scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.
  32.   4 And I will give achildren to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
          •  •  •
      12 ¶ As for my people, children are their oppressors, and awomen rule over them. O my people, they which blead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
  33.   4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of aa bcruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts.
  34.   5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the Lord; and my name continually every day is ablasphemed.
  35.   19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy aname.
  36.   3 And I will appoint over them four akinds, saith the Lord: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to bdevour and destroy.
  37.   4 And I will set up ashepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord.
  38.   28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have awatched over them, to bpluck up, and to cbreak down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I dwatch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the Lord.
  39.   41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
  40.   11 Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
  41.   10 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take aNebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.
  42.   27 Behold, I will awatch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
  43.   20 Whithersoever the aspirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
      21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
  44.   13 I heard also the anoise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.
  45.   1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the afirmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a bthrone.
          •  •  •
      19 And the acherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the beast gate of the Lord’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
  46.   22 ¶ Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the aglory of the God of Israel was over them above.
  47.   23 And I will set up aone bshepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant cDavid; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
  48.   24 And aDavid my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one bshepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
  49.   38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this ahead of gold.
  50.   17 Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, aweep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy bpeople, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to creproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

  51.   6 Therefore anight shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not bdivine; and the csun shall go down over the dprophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
  52.   7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the Lord shall areign over them in mount bZion from henceforth, even for ever.
  53.   14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
  54.   14 And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with awhirlwinds of the south.
  55.   25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
  56.   42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
  57.   44 Woe unto you, ascribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as bgraves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
  58.   27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
  59.   25 And he said unto them, The akings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
  60.   13 ¶ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, aexorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the bname of the Lord Jesus, saying, We cadjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
  61.   14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s atransgression, who is the bfigure of him that was to come.
  62.   15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
  63.   11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
  64.   10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
  65.   29 And after these plain and precious things were ataken away it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles; and after it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles, yea, even across the many waters which thou hast seen with the Gentiles which have gone forth out of captivity, thou seest—because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, which were plain unto the understanding of the children of men, according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God—because of these things which are taken away out of the gospel of the Lamb, an exceedingly great many do stumble, yea, insomuch that Satan hath great power over them.
  66.   4 And I will give children unto them to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
          •  •  •
      12 And my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they who alead thee cause thee to err and destroy the way of thy paths.
  67.   24 And behold, I have seen, in the days of king Benjamin, a serious war and much bloodshed between the Nephites and the Lamanites. But behold, the Nephites did obtain much advantage over them; yea, insomuch that king Benjamin did drive them out of the land of Zarahemla.
  68.   20 O how marvelous are the works of the Lord, and how long doth he suffer with his people; yea, and how ablind and impenetrable are the understandings of the children of men; for they will not seek wisdom, neither do they desire that she should rule over them!
  69.   3 For they are acarnal and devilish, and the devil has power over them; yea, even that old serpent that did bbeguile our first parents, which was the ccause of their fall; which was the cause of dall mankind becoming carnal, sensual, devilish, eknowing evil from good, fsubjecting themselves to the devil.
  70.   3 Now they durst not slay them, because of the aoath which their king had made unto Limhi; but they would smite them on their bcheeks, and exercise authority over them; and began to put heavy cburdens upon their backs, and drive them as they would a dumb ass—
  71.   9 For Amulon knew Alma, that he had been aone of the king’s priests, and that it was he that believed the words of Abinadi and was driven out before the king, and therefore he was wroth with him; for he was subject to king Laman, yet he exercised authority over them, and put btasks upon them, and put ctask-masters over them.
          •  •  •
      11 And Amulon commanded them that they should stop their cries; and he aput guards over them to watch them, that whosoever should be found calling upon God should be put to death.
  72.   9 And he became a great hinderment to the prosperity of the church of God; astealing away the hearts of the people; causing much dissension among the people; giving a chance for the enemy of God to exercise his bpower over them.
  73.   35 And he also unfolded unto them all the disadvantages they labored under, by having an unrighteous aking to rule over them;
          •  •  •
      41 And it came to pass that they did aappoint bjudges to rule over them, or to judge them according to the law; and this they did throughout all the land.
  74.   10 Now when Amlici was made king over them he commanded them that they should take up arms against their brethren; and this he did that he might subject them to him.
  75.   59 For what shepherd is there among you having many sheep doth not watch over them, that the wolves enter not and devour his flock? And behold, if a wolf enter his aflock doth he not drive him out? Yea, and at the last, if he can, he will destroy him.
  76.   5 And I trust, according to the Spirit of God which is in me, that I shall also have joy over you; nevertheless I do not desire that my joy over you should come by the cause of so much afflictions and sorrow which I have had for the brethren at Zarahemla, for behold, my joy cometh over them after wading through much affliction and sorrow.
  77.   21 And he did rejoice over them, and he did teach them many things. And he did also declare unto them that they were a people who were under him, and that they were a afree people, that they were free from the oppressions of the king, his father; for that his father had granted unto him that he might reign over the people who were in the land of Ishmael, and in all the land round about.
  78.   23 Now the high priest’s name was Giddonah. And Korihor said unto him: Because I do not teach the foolish traditions of your fathers, and because I do not teach this people to bind themselves down under the foolish ordinances and performances which are laid down by ancient priests, to usurp power and authority over them, to keep them in ignorance, that they may not lift up their heads, but be brought down according to thy words.
  79.   8 Now the people of the Zoramites were angry with the apeople of Ammon who were in Jershon, and the bchief ruler of the Zoramites, being a very wicked man, sent over unto the people of Ammon desiring them that they should cast out of their land all those who came over from them into their land.
      9 And he breathed out many threatenings against them. And now the people of Ammon did not fear their words; therefore they did not cast them out, but they did receive all the poor of the Zoramites that came over unto them; and they did anourish them, and did clothe them, and did give unto them lands for their inheritance; and they did administer unto them according to their wants.
  80.   8 For behold, his adesigns were to bstir up the Lamanites to anger against the Nephites; this he did that he might usurp great power over them, and also that he might gain power over the Nephites by bringing them into cbondage.
  81.   34 Now, Moroni being a man who was aappointed by the chief judges and the voice of the people, therefore he had power according to his will with the armies of the Nephites, to establish and to exercise authority over them.
  82.   6 And they had appointed a man to be a king and a leader over them, being fixed in their minds with a determined resolution that they would anot be subjected to go against the Nephites.
  83.   19 And in the commencement of the twenty and eighth year, Moroni and Teancum and many of the chief acaptains held a council of war—what they should do to cause the Lamanites to come out against them to battle; or that they might by some means flatter them out of their strongholds, that they might gain advantage over them and take again the city of Mulek.
  84.   1 And it came to pass that they did set guards over the prisoners of the Lamanites, and did compel them to go forth and bury their dead, yea, and also the dead of the Nephites who were slain; and Moroni placed men over them to guard them while they should perform their labors.
  85.   23 And thus they saw that the Nephites had power over them; and in these circumstances they found that it was not expedient that they should fight with the Nephites; therefore their chief acaptains demanded their weapons of war, and they brought them forth and bcast them at the feet of the Nephites, pleading for mercy.
  86.   12 Now this was the case with all his chief captains. They doubted and marveled also because of the wickedness of the people, and this because of the success of the Lamanites over them.
  87.   8 They have agot possession of the land, or the city, of Zarahemla; they have appointed a bking over them, and he hath written unto the king of the Lamanites, in the which he hath joined an alliance with him; in the which alliance he hath agreed to maintain the city of Zarahemla, which maintenance he supposeth will enable the Lamanites to conquer the remainder of the land, and he shall be placed king over this people when they shall be conquered cunder the Lamanites.
  88.   25 But behold, this march of Coriantumr through the center of the land gave Moronihah great advantage over them, notwithstanding the greatness of the number of the Nephites who were slain.
  89.   19 Therefore they did abandon their design to obtain the remainder of their lands, for so numerous were the Lamanites that it became impossible for the Nephites to obtain more power over them; therefore Moronihah did employ all his armies in maintaining those parts which he had taken.
  90.   6 Behold, they do not desire that the Lord their God, who hath acreated them, should brule and reign over them; notwithstanding his great goodness and his mercy towards them, they do set at cnaught his counsels, and they will not that he should be their guide.
  91.   18 And thus ended the fourteenth year. And in the fifteenth year they did come forth against the people of Nephi; and because of the wickedness of the people of Nephi, and their many contentions and dissensions, the Gadianton robbers did gain many advantages over them.
      19 And thus ended the fifteenth year, and thus were the people in a state of many afflictions; and the asword of destruction did hang over them, insomuch that they were about to be smitten down by it, and this because of their iniquity.
  92.   3 And every tribe did appoint a chief or a leader over them; and thus they became tribes and leaders of tribes.
  93.   20 And it shall come to pass, saith the Father, that the asword of my justice shall hang over them at that day; and except they repent it shall fall upon them, saith the Father, yea, even upon all the nations of the Gentiles.
  94.   39 Now this change was not equal to that which shall take place at the last day; but there was a change wrought upon them, insomuch that Satan could have no power over them, that he could not atempt them; and they were bsanctified in the flesh, that they were choly, and that the powers of the earth could not hold them.
  95.   4 And it was abecause the armies of the Nephites went up unto the Lamanites that they began to be smitten; for were it not for that, the Lamanites could have had no power over them.
  96.   12 And they did aland upon the shore of the bpromised land. And when they had set their feet upon the shores of the promised land they bowed themselves down upon the face of the land, and did humble themselves before the Lord, and did shed tears of joy before the Lord, because of the multitude of his ctender mercies over them.
          •  •  •
      22 And it came to pass that the people desired of them that they should aanoint one of their sons to be a king over them.
  97.   8 aListen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God. Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance; the bwhole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore, little cchildren are dwhole, for they are not capable of committing esin; wherefore the curse of fAdam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of gcircumcision is done away in me.
  98.   24 And if it so be that they perish, we know that many of our brethren have adeserted over unto the Lamanites, and many more will also desert over unto them; wherefore, write somewhat a few things, if thou art spared and I shall perish and not see thee; but I trust that I may see thee soon; for I have sacred records that I would bdeliver up unto thee.
  99.   3 And I have caused you that you should enter into a acovenant with me, that you should not bshow them except to those cpersons to whom I commanded you; and you have no dpower over them except I grant it unto you.
  100.   34 Behold, I say unto you that your brethren in Zion begin to repent, and the angels rejoice over them.

  101.   55 And the Lord administered comfort unto Adam, and said unto him: I have set thee to be at the head; a multitude of nations shall come of thee, and thou art a aprince over them forever.
          •  •  •
      93 And it is according to the vision showing the order of the aSeventy, that they should have seven presidents to preside over them, chosen out of the number of the seventy;
          •  •  •
      95 And these seven presidents are to choose other seventy besides the first seventy to whom they belong, and are to preside over them;
  102.   22 And we ask thee, Holy Father, that thy servants may go forth from this house armed with thy power, and that thy aname may be upon them, and thy glory be round about them, and thine bangels have charge over them;
  103.   37 But behold, their sins shall be upon the heads of their fathers; Satan shall be their father, and misery shall be their doom; and the whole heavens shall weep over them, even all the workmanship of mine hands; wherefore should not the heavens weep, seeing these shall suffer?
