Light and dark

  1.   4 And God saw the light, that it was agood: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light aDay, and the bdarkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the cfirst dday.
          •  •  •
18 And to rule over the aday and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
  2.   20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; aand it was a cloud and bdarkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
  3.   29 For thou art my alamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.
  4.   4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
          •  •  •
9 Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:
  5.   22 A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any aorder, and where the blight is as darkness.
  6.   22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
          •  •  •
25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
  7.   12 They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
  8.   6 The light shall be dark in his atabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.
          •  •  •
18 He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
  9.   16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the alight.
  10.   3 When his acandle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
  11.   26 When I looked for agood, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.
  12.   19 Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
  13.   28 For thou wilt light my acandle: the Lord my God will benlighten my darkness.
  14.   4 Unto the upright there ariseth alight in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
  15.   11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
  16.   13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth adarkness.
  17.   2 While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:
  18.   20 ¶ Woe unto them that call aevil bgood, and good evil; that put cdarkness for dlight, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
          •  •  •
30 And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the alight is bdarkened in the heavens thereof.
  19.   2 The people that walked in adarkness have seen a great blight: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
  20.   10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be adarkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
  21.   16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make adarkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
  22.   7 I form the alight, and create darkness: I make peace, and create bevil: I the Lord do all these things.
  23.   10 ¶ Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the avoice of his bservant, that walketh in cdarkness, and hath no dlight? let him etrust in the name of the Lord, and fstay upon his God.
  24.   10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the ahungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light brise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:
  25.   9 ¶ Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth ajustice overtake us: we wait for blight, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we cwalk in darkness.
  26.   16 Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause adarkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
  27.   2 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
  28.   7 And when I shall aput thee out, I will bcover the heaven, and make the cstars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
8 All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord God.
  29.   22 He arevealeth the deep and secret things: he bknoweth what is in the darkness, and the clight dwelleth with him.
  30.   18 Woe unto you that adesire the bday of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is cdarkness, and not light.
          •  •  •
20 Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
  31.   8 ¶ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in adarkness, the Lord shall be a blight unto me.
  32.   6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the alight shall not be clear, nor dark:
  33.   16 The people which sat in adarkness saw great blight; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
  34.   23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that adarkness!
  35.   27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
  36.   29 ¶ Immediately after the tribulation of those adays shall the bsun be cdarkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
  37.   24 ¶ But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
  38.   79 To give alight to them that sit in bdarkness and in the shadow of cdeath, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
  39.   34 The light of the body is the aeye: therefore when thine eye is bsingle, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of cdarkness.
35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.
  40.   3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in adarkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have bspoken in the ear in cclosets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
  41.   5 And the alight shineth in bdarkness; and the darkness ccomprehended it not.
  42.   19 And this is the condemnation, that alight is come into the world, and men loved bdarkness rather than light, because their cdeeds were evil.
  43.   12 ¶ Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the alight of the world: he that followeth me shall not bwalk in cdarkness, but shall have the light of life.
  44.   35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the alight with you. Walk while ye have the blight, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in cdarkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
          •  •  •
46 I am come a alight into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
  45.   18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from adarkness to blight, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
  46.   19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
  47.   12 The night is far spent, the aday is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of bdarkness, and let us put on the carmour of dlight.
  48.   5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the ahidden things of darkness, and will make bmanifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
  49.   6 For God, who acommanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath bshined in our hearts, to give the clight of the knowledge of the dglory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
  50.   14 Be ye not unequally ayoked together with unbelievers: for what bfellowship hath righteousness with cunrighteousness? and what communion hath dlight with darkness
    1.   8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as achildren of blight:
    2.   5 Ye are all the achildren of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
    3.   9 But ye are a achosen generation, a broyal cpriesthood, an dholy enation, a fpeculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of gdarkness into his marvellous hlight:
    4.   19 aWe have also a more bsure word of cprophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day dstar arise in your hearts:
    5.   5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is alight, and in him is no bdarkness at all.
    6.   8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, awhich thing is true in him and in you: because the bdarkness is cpast, and the true dlight now shineth.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
    7.   4 And it came to pass that I saw a amist of bdarkness on the face of the land of promise; and I saw lightnings, and I heard thunderings, and earthquakes, and all manner of tumultuous noises; and I saw the earth and the rocks, that they rent; and I saw mountains tumbling into pieces; and I saw the plains of the earth, that they were cbroken up; and I saw many cities that they were dsunk; and I saw many that they were burned with fire; and I saw many that did tumble to the earth, because of the quaking thereof.
    8.   11 For thus spake the prophet: The Lord God surely shall avisit all the house of Israel at that day, some with his bvoice, because of their righteousness, unto their great joy and salvation, and others with the cthunderings and the lightnings of his power, by tempest, by fire, and by dsmoke, and evapor of fdarkness, and by the opening of the gearth, and by hmountains which shall be carried up.
    9.   5 Wherefore, Joseph truly asaw our day. And he obtained a bpromise of the Lord, that out of the fruit of his loins the Lord God would raise up a crighteous dbranch unto the house of Israel; not the Messiah, but a branch which was to be broken off, nevertheless, to be remembered in the covenants of the Lord that the Messiah should be made emanifest unto them in the latter days, in the spirit of power, unto the bringing of them out of fdarkness unto light—yea, out of hidden darkness and out of captivity unto freedom.
    10.   10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the avoice of his servant, that bwalketh in darkness and hath no light?
    11.   9 And our spirits must have become alike unto him, and we become devils, bangels to a cdevil, to be dshut out from the presence of our God, and to remain with the father of elies, in misery, like unto himself; yea, to that being who fbeguiled our first parents, who gtransformeth himself nigh unto an hangel of light, and istirreth up the children of men unto jsecret combinations of murder and all manner of secret works of darkness.
    12.   20 Wo unto them that acall bevil good, and good evil, that put cdarkness for light, and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
            •  •  •
30 And in that aday they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; and if they look unto the land, behold, darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
    13.   2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
    14.   10 For the astars of heaven and the bconstellations thereof shall not give their clight; the dsun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
    15.   10 And when these things have passed away a speedy adestruction cometh unto my people; for, notwithstanding the pains of my soul, I have seen it; wherefore, I know that it shall come to pass; and they sell themselves for naught; for, for the reward of their pride and their bfoolishness they shall reap destruction; for because they yield unto the devil and cchoose works of ddarkness rather than light, therefore they must go down to ehell.
    16.   17 There is nothing which is secret save it shall be arevealed; there is no work of darkness save it shall be made manifest in the light; and there is nothing which is sealed upon the earth save it shall be loosed.
    17.   4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye aask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.
    18.   9 He is the alight and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death.
    19.   29 My soul hath been aredeemed from the gall of bitterness and bbonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was cracked with eternal torment; but I am dsnatched, and my soul is epained no more.
    20.   7 Behold, he changed their hearts; yea, he awakened them out of a deep sleep, and they awoke unto God. Behold, they were in the midst of darkness; nevertheless, their souls were illuminated by the light of the everlasting word; yea, they were encircled about by the abands of death, and the bchains of hell, and an everlasting destruction did await them.
    21.   6 Now, this was what Ammon desired, for he knew that king Lamoni was under the power of God; he knew that the dark aveil of bunbelief was being cast away from his mind, and the clight which did light up his mind, which was the light of the glory of God, which was a marvelous light of his goodness—yea, this light had infused such joy into his soul, the cloud of darkness having been dispelled, and that the light of everlasting life was lit up in his soul, yea, he knew that this had dovercome his natural frame, and he was carried away in God—
    22.   3 Behold, I answer for you; for our brethren, the Lamanites, were in darkness, yea, even in the darkest abyss, but behold, how amany of them are brought to behold the marvelous light of God! And this is the blessing which hath been bestowed upon us, that we have been made binstruments in the hands of God to bring about this great work.
            •  •  •
15 Yea, they were encircled about with everlasting adarkness and destruction; but behold, he has brought them into his everlasting blight, yea, into everlasting salvation; and they are encircled about with the matchless bounty of his love; yea, and we have been instruments in his hands of doing this great and marvelous work.
    23.   23 And the Lord said: I will prepare unto my servant Gazelem, a astone, which shall shine forth in darkness unto light, that I may bdiscover unto my people who serve me, that I may discover unto them the works of their brethren, yea, their secret works, their works of darkness, and their wickedness and abominations.
            •  •  •
25 I will abring forth out of darkness unto light all their secret works and their abominations; and except they repent I will bdestroy them from off the face of the earth; and I will bring to light all their secrets and abominations, unto every nation that shall hereafter possess the land.
    24.   12 Yea, and this because they shall dwindle in unbelief and fall into the works of darkness, and alasciviousness, and all manner of iniquities; yea, I say unto you, that because they shall sin against so great light and knowledge, yea, I say unto you, that from that day, even the bfourth generation shall not all pass away before this great iniquity shall come.
    25.   29 O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye astiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by bfoolish and cblind guides? Yea, how long will ye dchoose darkness rather than elight?
    26.   3 And behold, this will I give unto you for a asign at the time of his coming; for behold, there shall be great lights in heaven, insomuch that in the night before he cometh there shall be no darkness, insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day.
            •  •  •
20 But behold, as I said unto you concerning another asign, a sign of his death, behold, in that day that he shall suffer death the sun shall be darkened and refuse to give his blight unto you; and also the moon and the stars; and there shall be no light upon the face of this land, even from the time that he shall suffer death, for the space of cthree days, to the time that he shall rise again from the dead.
            •  •  •
27 And he said unto me that while the thunder and the lightning lasted, and the tempest, that these things should be, and that adarkness should cover the face of the whole earth for the space of three days.
    27.   19 And it came to pass that there was no darkness in all that night, but it was as light as though it was mid-day. And it came to pass that the sun did rise in the morning again, according to its proper order; and they knew that it was the day that the Lord should be aborn, because of the bsign which had been given.
    28.   19 And it came to pass that when the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the storm, and the tempest, and the quakings of the earth did cease—for behold, they did last for about the space of athree bhours; and it was said by some that the time was greater; nevertheless, all these great and terrible things were done in about the space of three hours—and then behold, there was cdarkness upon the face of the land.
            •  •  •
        21 And there could be no light, because of the darkness, neither candles, neither torches; neither could there be fire kindled with their fine and exceedingly dry wood, so that there could not be any light at all;
22 And there was not any light seen, neither fire, nor glimmer, neither the sun, nor the moon, nor the stars, for so great were the mists of darkness which were upon the face of the land.
23 And it came to pass that it did last for the space of three days that there was no light seen; and there was great mourning and ahowling and weeping among all the people continually; yea, great were the groanings of the people, because of the darkness and the great destruction which had come upon them.
    29.   23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If, therefore, the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
    30.   16 And blessed be ahe that shall bring this thing to light; for it shall be bbrought out of darkness unto light, according to the word of God; yea, it shall be brought out of the earth, and it shall shine forth out of darkness, and come unto the knowledge of the people; and it shall be done by the power of God.
    31.   22 And he cried again unto the Lord saying: O Lord, behold I have done even as thou hast commanded me; and I have prepared the vessels for my people, and behold there is no light in them. Behold, O Lord, wilt thou suffer that we shall cross this great water in darkness?
    32.   4 And I know, O Lord, that thou hast all apower, and can do whatsoever thou wilt for the benefit of man; therefore touch these stones, O Lord, with thy bfinger, and prepare them that they may shine forth in darkness; and they shall shine forth unto us in the vessels which we have prepared, that we may have clight while we shall cross the sea.
    33.   3 And thus the Lord caused stones to shine in darkness, to give light unto men, women, and children, that they might not cross the great waters in darkness.
    34.   21 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the aSon of God. I am the same that came unto mine bown, and mine own received me not. I am the clight which shineth in ddarkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not.
    35.   21 And their hearts are acorrupt, and bfull of wickedness and abominations; and they clove ddarkness rather than light, because their edeeds are evil; therefore they will not ask of me.
            •  •  •
58 I am the alight which shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not.
    36.   11 For, behold, it is I that speak; behold, I am the alight which shineth in darkness, and by my bpower I give these words unto thee.
    37.   9 Behold, I am aJesus Christ, the bSon of the cliving God, who dcreated the heavens and the eearth, a flight which cannot be hid in gdarkness;
    38.   45 For they love darkness rather than light, and their adeeds are evil, and they receive their bwages of cwhom they list to obey.
    39.   2 The alight and the life of the world, a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not;
    40.   2 The alight and the life of the world; a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not;
    41.   7 For verily I say unto you that I am aAlpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the light and the life of the world—a blight that shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not.
            •  •  •
        28 And when the times of the aGentiles is come in, a blight shall break forth among them that sit in darkness, and it shall be the fulness of my cgospel;
    42.   54 And your aminds in times past have been bdarkened because of cunbelief, and because you have treated dlightly the things you have received—
    43.   49 The alight shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not; nevertheless, the day shall come when you shall bcomprehend even God, being quickened in him and by him.
            •  •  •
67 And if your eye be asingle to my bglory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light ccomprehendeth all things.
    44.   13 Therefore, that we should waste and awear out our lives in bringing to light all the bhidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven—
    45.   30 But behold, from among the righteous, he aorganized his forces and appointed bmessengers, cclothed with power and authority, and dcommissioned them to go forth and carry the light of the gospel to them that were in edarkness, even to fall the spirits of men; and thus was the gospel preached to the dead.
    46.   4 And I, God, saw the light; and that light was agood. And I, God, divided the blight from the darkness.
5 And I, God, called the light Day; and the darkness, I called Night; and this I did by the aword of my power, and it was done as I bspake; and the evening and the morning were the first cday.
            •  •  •
        18 And the asun to rule over the day, and the moon to rule over the night, and to divide the light from the bdarkness; and I, God, saw that all things which I had made were good;
    47.   4 And they (the Gods) comprehended the light, for it was abright; and they divided the light, or caused it to be divided, from the darkness.
5 And the Gods called the light Day, and the darkness they called Night. And it came to pass that from the evening until morning they called anight; and from the morning until the evening they called day; and this was the first, or the beginning, of that which they called day and night.
            •  •  •
17 And the Gods set them in the expanse of the heavens, to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to cause to divide the light from the adarkness.
    48.   33 And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the asun shall be bdarkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the cstars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
    49.   20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself alying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, bmother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.” It seems as though the cadversary was aware, at a very early period of my life, that I was destined to prove a disturber and an annoyer of his kingdom; else why should the powers of darkness combine against me? Why the dopposition and persecution that arose against me, almost in my infancy?
            •  •  •
43 After this communication, I saw the light in the room begin to gather immediately around the person of him who had been speaking to me, and it continued to do so until the room was again left dark, except just around him; when, instantly I saw, as it were, a conduit open right up into heaven, and he aascended till he entirely disappeared, and the room was left as it had been before this heavenly light had made its appearance.
