Prophet and seer

  1. 9 (Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to aenquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the bseer: for he that is now called a cProphet was beforetime called a dSeer.)
  2. 11 For when David was up in the morning, the word of the Lord came unto the aprophet Gad, David’s bseer, saying,
  3. 13 Yet the Lord atestified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the bprophets, and by all the cseers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
  4. 29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of aNathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the bseer,
  5. 29 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of aNathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the bseer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
  6. 15 Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of aShemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the bseer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
  7. 25 And he set the aLevites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s bseer, and cNathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.
  8. 10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep asleep, and hath closed your beyes: the cprophets and your rulers, the dseers hath he ecovered.
  9. 10 Which say to the aseers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us bsmooth things, prophesy cdeceits:
  10. 5 For behold, the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep. For behold, ye have closed your aeyes, and ye have brejected the prophets; and your rulers, and the seers hath he covered because of your iniquity.
  11. 15 And the king said that a aseer is greater than a prophet.
    16 And Ammon said that a seer is a revelator and a prophet also; and a gift which is greater can no man have, except he should possess the power of God, which no man can; yet a man may have great power given him from God.
  12. 1 Behold, there shall be a arecord kept among you; and in it thou shalt be called a bseer, a translator, a prophet, an capostle of Jesus Christ, an elder of the church through the will of God the Father, and the grace of your Lord Jesus Christ,
  13. 92 Behold, here is wisdom; yea, to be a aseer, a brevelator, a translator, and a cprophet, having all the dgifts of God which he bestows upon the head of the church.
  14. 94 And from this time forth I appoint unto him that he may be a prophet, and a aseer, and a revelator unto my church, as well as my servant Joseph;
    • • •
    125 I give unto you my servant Joseph to be a presiding elder over all my church, to be a translator, a revelator, a aseer, and prophet.
  15. 12 Behold, my prayer to God is that you all may be saved. And I subscribe myself your servant in the Lord, prophet and aseer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  16. 3 Joseph Smith, the aProphet and bSeer of the Lord, has done more, csave Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it. In the short space of twenty years, he has brought forth the Book of Mormon, which he translated by the gift and power of God, and has been the means of publishing it on two continents; has sent the dfulness of the everlasting gospel, which it contained, to the four quarters of the earth; has brought forth the revelations and commandments which compose this book of Doctrine and Covenants, and many other wise documents and instructions for the benefit of the children of men; gathered many thousands of the Latter-day Saints, founded a great city, and left a fame and name that cannot be slain. He lived great, and he died great in the eyes of God and his people; and like most of the Lord’s anointed in ancient times, has sealed his mission and his works with his own eblood; and so has his brother Hyrum. In life they were not divided, and in death they were not fseparated!
