"Fear of"

  1.   2 And the afear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
  2.   11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the afear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.
  3.   42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the alabour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.
          •  •  •
53 The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac.
  4.   25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the afear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
  5.   25 There shall no man be able to astand before you: for the Lord your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
  6.   67 In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
  7.   24 And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the Lord God of Israel?
  8.   21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to aBeer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.
  9.   7 And he took a yoke of oxen, and ahewed them in pieces, and bsent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
  10.   10 ¶ And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
  11.   26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
  12.   3 The God of Israel said, the aRock of Israel spake to me, He that bruleth over men must be just, ruling in the cfear of God.
  13.   17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.
  14.   14 And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the Lord came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.
  15.   10 ¶ And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
  16.   7 Wherefore now let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor arespect of persons, nor taking of bgifts.
          •  •  •
9 And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the afear of the Lord, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
  17.   29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the Lord fought against the enemies of Israel.
  18.   9 Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to awalk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the bheathen our enemies?
          •  •  •
15 But the former governors that had been before me awere chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare brule over the people: but so did not I, because of the cfear of God.
  19.   17 And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good aday. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the bfear of the Jews fell upon them.
  20.   2 The Jews agathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the bfear of them fell upon all people.
3 And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.
  21.   14 To him that is afflicted apity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
  22.   4 Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
  23.   28 And unto man he said, Behold, the afear of the Lord, that is bwisdom; and to depart from evil is cunderstanding.
  24.   9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the ajudgments of the Lord are btrue and righteous altogether.
  25.   11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
  26.   1 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no afear of God before his eyes.
  27.   1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
  28.   38 Egypt was aglad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.
  29.   10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of awisdom: a good bunderstanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
  30.   120 My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.
  31.   7 ¶ The afear of the Lord is the beginning of bknowledge: but fools despise cwisdom and dinstruction.
          •  •  •
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not achoose the fear of the Lord:
          •  •  •
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
  32.   5 Then shalt thou understand the afear of the Lord, and find the bknowledge of God.
  33.   25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
  34.   13 The afear of the Lord is to bhate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
  35.   10 The afear of the Lord is the beginning of bwisdom: and the cknowledge of the dholy is eunderstanding.
  36.   24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
          •  •  •
27 The afear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
  37.   26 In the afear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
  38.   16 Better is alittle with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.
          •  •  •
33 The afear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before bhonour is chumility.
  39.   6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the afear of the Lord men bdepart from cevil.
  40.   23 The afear of the Lord tendeth to blife: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
  41.   2 The fear of a king is as the aroaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to banger sinneth against his own soul.
  42.   4 By ahumility and the bfear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
  43.   17 Let not thine heart envy asinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long.
  44.   25 The afear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his btrust in the Lord shall be safe.
  45.   10 ¶ Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty.
          •  •  •
19 And they shall go into the aholes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for bfear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
          •  •  •
21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
  46.   25 And on all hills that shall be adigged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of blesser cattle.
  47.   2 And the aspirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of bwisdom and cunderstanding, the spirit of dcounsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not ajudge bafter the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
  48.   16 In that day shall aEgypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which he shaketh over it.
  49.   6 And wisdom and aknowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his btreasure.
  50.   11 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.

  51.   11 ¶ And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
  52.   9 Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.
  53.   16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his apeople, and they shall flee every one to his own bland.
  54.   5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the acalves of Beth-aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
  55.   17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the Lord our God, and shall fear because of thee.
  56.   4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
  57.   13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for afear of the Jews.
  58.   38 ¶ And after this aJoseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for bfear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
  59.   19 ¶ Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were aassembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and bstood in the midst, and saith unto them, cPeace be unto you.
  60.   31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were aedified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the bcomfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
  61.   18 There is no afear of God before their eyes.
  62.   1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us acleanse ourselves from all bfilthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting choliness in the fear of God.
  63.   21 aSubmitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
  64.   7 For God hath not given us the spirit of afear; but of bpower, and of clove, and of a sound mind.
  65.   15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to abondage.
  66.   10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt asuffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be btried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto cdeath, and I will dgive thee a ecrown of life.
  67.   10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
          •  •  •
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
  68.   10 O ye wicked ones, enter into the rock, and ahide thee in the dust, for the fear of the Lord and the glory of his majesty shall smite thee.
          •  •  •
19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for the fear of the Lord shall come upon them and the aglory of his majesty shall smite them, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
          •  •  •
21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for the fear of the Lord shall come upon them and the majesty of his glory shall smite them, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
  69.   25 And all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and the treading of lesser cattle.
  70.   2 And the aSpirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of bwisdom and cunderstanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord; and he shall not ajudge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears.
  71.   23 And there was nothing save it was exceeding aharshness, bpreaching and prophesying of wars, and contentions, and destructions, and continually creminding them of death, and the duration of eternity, and the judgments and the power of God, and all these things—stirring them up dcontinually to keep them in the fear of the Lord. I say there was nothing short of these things, and exceedingly great plainness of speech, would keep them from going down speedily to destruction. And after this manner do I write concerning them.
  72.   1 And now, it came to pass that when king Benjamin had made an end of speaking the words which had been delivered unto him by the aangel of the Lord, that he cast his eyes round about on the multitude, and behold they had bfallen to the earth, for the cfear of the Lord had come upon them.
  73.   10 Now there were a great many awidows in the land, and they did cry mightily from day to day, for a great fear of the Lamanites had come upon them.
  74.   30 And I command you to do these things in the fear of the Lord; and I command you to do these things, and that ye have no king; that if these people commit sins and iniquities they shall be answered upon their own heads.
  75.   17 Nevertheless, they durst not alie, if it were known, for fear of the law, for liars were punished; therefore they pretended to preach according to their belief; and now the law could have no power on any man for bhis belief.
18 And they durst not asteal, for fear of the law, for such were punished; neither durst they rob, nor murder, for he that bmurdered was punished unto cdeath.
  76.   26 And Alma cried, saying: How long shall we suffer these great aafflictions, O Lord? O Lord, bgive us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto cdeliverance. And they broke the cords with which they were bound; and when the people saw this, they began to flee, for the fear of destruction had come upon them.
  77.   29 Now they wept because of the fear of being slain. Now when Ammon saw this his heart was swollen within him with joy; for, said he, I will show forth my power unto these my fellow-servants, or the power which is in me, in restoring these flocks unto the king, that I may win the hearts of these my fellow-servants, that I may lead them to abelieve in my words.
  78.   15 Now, when the servants of the king had seen that they had fallen, they also began to cry unto God, for the fear of the Lord had come upon them also, for it was athey who had stood before the king and testified unto him concerning the great power of Ammon.
  79.   21 Now when the queen saw the fear of the servants she also began to fear exceedingly, lest there should some evil come upon her. And she commanded her servants that they should go and call the people, that they might slay Aaron and his brethren.
  80.   7 And behold, he spake unto us, as it were the voice of thunder, and the whole earth did atremble beneath our feet; and we all fell to the earth, for the bfear of the Lord came upon us.
  81.   12 And now the Spirit of the Lord doth say unto me: aCommand thy children to do good, lest they blead away the hearts of many people to destruction; therefore I command you, my son, in the fear of God, that ye crefrain from your iniquities;
  82.   18 For they knew that the prophets had testified of these things for many years, and that the sign which had been given was already at hand; and they began to fear because of their iniquity and their unbelief.
  83.   9 And it came to pass that when the armies of Giddianhi saw this they began to shout with a loud voice, because of their joy, for they had supposed that the Nephites had fallen with fear because of the terror of their armies.
  84.   7 And it came to pass that my people, with their wives and their children, did now behold the aarmies of the Lamanites marching towards them; and with that awful bfear of death which fills the breasts of all the wicked, did they await to receive them.
  85.   18 And there went a fear of Shiz throughout all the land; yea, a cry went forth throughout the land—Who can stand before the army of Shiz? Behold, he sweepeth the earth before him!
  86.   5 For so exceedingly do they anger that it seemeth me that they have no fear of death; and they have lost their love, one towards another; and they athirst after blood and revenge continually.
  87.   2 And he areceived the word with gladness, but straightway Satan btempted him; and the fear of cpersecution and the cares of the world caused him to dreject the word.
  88.   2 But with some I am not well pleased, for they will not open their amouths, but they hide the btalent which I have given unto them, because of the cfear of man. Wo unto such, for mine danger is ekindled against them.
  89.   43 And the day shall come when the nations of the earth shall atremble because of her, and shall fear because of her terrible ones. The Lord hath spoken it. Amen.
  90.   14 There also came aup a land out of the depth of the sea, and so great was the fear of the enemies of the people of God, that they fled and stood afar off and went upon the land which came up out of the depth of the sea.
          •  •  •
17 The afear of the Lord was upon all nations, so great was the bglory of the Lord, which was upon his people. And the Lord blessed the cland, and they were blessed upon the mountains, and upon the high places, and did flourish.
  91.
