"In the midst"

          1.   6 ¶ And God said, Let there be a afirmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
          2.   9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the asight, and good for bfood; the ctree of dlife also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of eknowledge of good and evil.
          3.   3 But of the fruit of the atree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
          4.   10 And he took unto him all these, and adivided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
          5.   16 The aAngel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my bname be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
          6.   20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my awonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you bgo.
          7.   22 And I will asever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that bno swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth.
          8.   27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to ahis strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled bagainst it; and the Lord overthrew the cEgyptians in the midst of the sea.
                  •  •  •
29 But the children of Israel walked upon adry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
          9.   19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
          10.   28 And the middle bar in the midst of the boards shall reach from end to end.
          11.   32 And there shall be an ahole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the bhole of an habergeon, that it be not rent.
          12.   3 Unto a land aflowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
          13.   12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a acovenant with the binhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it cbe for a snare in the midst of thee:
          14.   23 And there was an hole in the midst of the robe, as the hole of an ahabergeon, with a band round about the hole, that it should not rend.
          15.   16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their atransgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
          16.   17 ¶ Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.
          17.   3 Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they adefile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell.
          18.   5 And ye shall measure from awithout the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.
          19.   3 And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
                  •  •  •
6 And what he did unto aDathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and ball the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
          20.   20 That his heart be not lifted up above his abrethren, and that he bturn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his cchildren, in the midst of Israel.
          21.   2 Thou shalt aseparate three bcities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
          22.   14 For the Lord thy God awalketh in the bmidst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
          23.   51 Because ye atrespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-bKadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.
          24.   17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on adry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.
          25.   9 And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
10 ¶ For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the Lord commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
          26.   13 Up, asanctify the people, and say, bSanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.
                  •  •  •
21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly aBabylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I bcoveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.
          27.   22 And the other issued out of the city against them; so they were in the midst of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side: and they smote them, so that they let none of them remain or escape.
          28.   13 And the asun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of bJasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
          29.   9 From Aroer, that is upon the bank of the river aArnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain of bMedeba unto Dibon;
                  •  •  •
              16 And their acoast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;
          30.   4 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
          31.   20 And the priest’s heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.
          32.   42 Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
          33.   13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and aanointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the bSpirit of the Lord came upon cDavid from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
          34.   10 ¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit afrom God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.
          35.   25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.
          36.   17 ¶ And they brought in the aark of the Lord, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.
          37.   14 Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.
          38.   12 And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.
          39.   12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the Lord wrought a great victory.
                  •  •  •
20 And aBenaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
          40.   5 ¶ And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:
          41.   8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a agreat people, that cannot be bnumbered nor counted for multitude.
          42.   27 And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the acherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.
          43.   20 And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, Lord, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the Lord aopened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
          44.   14 And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance.
          45.   1 So they brought the aark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
          46.   4 Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away.
          47.   13 For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
          48.   14 ¶ Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation;
          49.   11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
          50.   21 For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst

          Ps. 22: 14, 22
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my aheart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
                •  •  •
22 I will declare thy aname unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
        1.   5 God is in the amidst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
        2.   9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
        3.   10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and aguile depart not from her streets.
        4.   4 Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their aensigns for signs.
                •  •  •
12 For God is my aKing of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
        5.   28 And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
        6.   24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.
        7.   2 The Lord shall send the arod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
        8.   19 In the acourts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.
        9.   2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
        10.   7 Though I walk in the midst of atrouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
        11.   21 Let them not depart from thine aeyes; bkeep them in the midst of thine heart.
        12.   14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
        13.   20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
        14.   33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
        15.   34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
        16.   19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
        17.   2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
                •  •  •
8 ¶ Woe unto them that ajoin bhouse to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may cbe placed alone in the midst of the earth!
                •  •  •
25 Therefore is the aanger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath bstretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
        18.   5 ¶ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am aundone; because I am a man of bunclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have cseen the dKing, the Lord of hosts.
                •  •  •
12 And the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
        19.   6 Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us amake a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:
        20.   23 For the Lord God of hosts shall amake a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
        21.   6 Cry out and shout, thou ainhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the bmidst of thee.
        22.   3 aTake counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.
        23.   1 The aburden of bEgypt. Behold, the Lord rideth upon a swift ccloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the didols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
                •  •  •
3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to athem that have bfamiliar spirits, and to the wizards.
                •  •  •
14 The Lord hath mingled a aperverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.
                •  •  •
19 In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the Lord.
                •  •  •
24 In that day shall Israel be athe third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a bblessing in the midst of the land:
        24.   13 ¶ When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the apeople, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
        25.   11 And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.
        26.   23 But when he seeth his children, the awork of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall bfear the cGod of Israel.
        27.   18 I will open arivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the bwilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
        28.   17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the aabomination, and the bmouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.
        29.   6 ¶ For thus hath the Lord of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a amount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be bvisited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.
        30.   6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord.
        31.   16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The Lord liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.
        32.   9 Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O Lord, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
        33.   11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth ariches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.
        34.   8 ¶ For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your adiviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your bdreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
        35.   12 Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.
        36.   21 Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.
        37.   37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the amingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her btreasures; and they shall be robbed.
        38.   1 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will raise up against aBabylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying bwind;
                •  •  •
47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
        39.   25 He took also out of the city an aeunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven bmen of them that were near the king’s person, which were found in the city; and the principal scribe of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
        40.   15 The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty amen in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.
        41.   45 Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
        42.   13 ¶ For the asins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the bjust in the midst of her,
        43.   2 Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a asword after them.
                •  •  •
5 ¶ Thus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the amidst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
                •  •  •
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the asight of the nations.
                •  •  •
10 Therefore the fathers shall aeat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I bscatter into all the winds.
                •  •  •
12 ¶ A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
        44.   7 And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall aknow that I am the Lord.
        45.   4 And mine eye shall not aspare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will brecompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall cknow that I am the Lord.
                •  •  •
9 And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the Lord that smiteth.
        46.   11 And there stood before them aseventy men of the bancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
        47.   4 And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the aforeheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
        48.   10 And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.
        49.   7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.
                •  •  •
11 This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:

        Ezek. 12: 2
2 Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a arebellious house, which have beyes to see, and csee not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.
      1.   14 So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
      2.   53 When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I abring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them:
      3.   16 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of aBabylon he shall die.
      4.   8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my afury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
      5.   32 Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the Lord have spoken it.
      6.   3 Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord God, The city asheddeth bblood in the midst of it, that her ctime may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself.
              •  •  •
7 In thee have they aset light by bfather and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by coppression with the dstranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the ewidow.
              •  •  •
9 In thee are men that acarry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit blewdness.
              •  •  •
13 ¶ Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy adishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.
              •  •  •
18 Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become adross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the bfurnace; they are even the dross of silver.

    40.   8 And it came to pass, as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold, they asaw a Man bdescending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them; and the eyes of the whole multitude were turned upon him, and they durst not open their mouths, even one to another, and wist not what it meant, for they thought it was an angel that had appeared unto them.
    41.   12 So they brought their little children and set them down upon the ground round about him, and Jesus stood in the midst; and the multitude gave way till they had all been brought unto him.
13 And it came to pass that when they had all been brought, and Jesus stood in the midst, he commanded the multitude that they should akneel down upon the ground.

    42.   4 And it came to pass that on the morrow, when the multitude was gathered together, behold, Nephi and his abrother whom he had raised from the bdead, whose name was Timothy, and also his son, whose name was Jonas, and also Mathoni, and Mathonihah, his brother, and Kumen, and Kumenonhi, and Jeremiah, and Shemnon, and Jonas, and Zedekiah, and Isaiah—now these were the cnames of the ddisciples whom Jesus had chosen—and it came to pass that they went forth and stood in the midst of the multitude.

    43.   16 Then shall ye, who are a aremnant of the house of Jacob, go forth among them; and ye shall be in the midst of them who shall be many; and ye shall be among them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, and as a young blion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through both ctreadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

    48.   32 Verily, verily, I say unto you, as I said unto my disciples, where two or three are gathered together in my name, as atouching bone thing, behold, there will I be in the cmidst of them—even so am I in the dmidst of you.

  13.   9 And out of the ground made I, the Lord God, to grow every tree, anaturally, that is pleasant to the sight of man; and man could behold it. And it became also a bliving soul. For it was spiritual in the day that I created it; for it remaineth in the sphere in which I, God, created it, yea, even all things which I prepared for the use of man; and man saw that it was good for food. And I, the Lord God, planted the ctree of life also in the midst of the garden, and also the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
  14.   9 But of the fruit of the tree which thou beholdest in the midst of the garden, God hath said—Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

23 And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; thou wast achosen before thou wast born.

25 So it was with me. I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two aPersonages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was bhated and cpersecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true; and while they were persecuting me, reviling me, and speaking all manner of evil against me dfalsely for so saying, I was led to say in my heart: Why persecute me for telling the truth? I have actually seen a vision; and who am I that I can withstand God, or why does the world think to make me deny what I have actually seen? For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not edeny it, neither dared I do it; at least I knew that by so doing I would offend God, and come under condemnation.

44 I lay musing on the singularity of the scene, and marveling greatly at what had been told to me by this extraordinary messenger; when, in the midst of my ameditation, I suddenly discovered that my room was again beginning to get lighted, and in an instant, as it were, the same heavenly messenger was again by my bedside.

61 The excitement, however, still continued, and rumor with her thousand tongues was all the time employed in circulating afalsehoods about my father’s family, and about myself. If I were to relate a thousandth part of them, it would fill up volumes. The persecution, however, became so intolerable that I was under the necessity of leaving Manchester, and going with my wife to Susquehanna county, in the State of Pennsylvania. While preparing to start—being very poor, and the persecution so heavy upon us that there was no probability that we would ever be otherwise—in the midst of our afflictions we found a friend in a gentleman by the name of bMartin Harris, who came to us and gave me fifty dollars to assist us on our journey. Mr. Harris was a resident of Palmyra township, Wayne county, in the State of New York, and a farmer of respectability.
