King over

  1.   31 ¶ And these are the kings that reigned in the land of aEdom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.
  2.   8 Now there arose up a new aking over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
  3.   14 ¶ When thou art come unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me;
      15 aThou shalt in any wise set him bking over thee, whom the Lord thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a cstranger over thee, which is not thy brother.
  4.   8 The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us.

      15 And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let afire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

      18 And ye are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)
  5.   19 ¶ Nevertheless the people refused to aobey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;
  6.   19 And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your aadversities and your btribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a cking over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes, and by your thousands.
  7.   1 And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto me, and have made a king over you.

      13 Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have desired! and, behold, the Lord hath set a king over you.
  8.   1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to aanoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.

      17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord aanointed thee king over Israel?
          •  •  •
      26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
          •  •  •
      35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the Lord arepented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
  9.   17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father aknoweth.
  10.   4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed aDavid king over the house of bJudah. And they told David, saying, That the men of cJabesh-gilead were they that buried Saul.

      7 Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye avaliant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.

      9 And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
  11.   17 ¶ And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:

      33 And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?
  12.   2 Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
      3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they aanointed bDavid cking over Israel.

      12 And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.

      17 ¶ But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the ahold.
  13.   7 ¶ And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I aanointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
  14.   15 So the king returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to aGilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Jordan.

      22 And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?
  15.   34 And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet aanoint him there bking over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, cGod save king Solomon.
  16.   1 So king Solomon was king over all Israel.
  17.   37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul adesireth, and shalt be king over Israel.
  18.   20 And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that afollowed the house of David, but the tribe of bJudah only.
  19.   2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is aAhijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.

      14 Moreover the Lord shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.
  20.   16 And the people that were encamped heard say, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also slain the king: wherefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the host, king over Israel that day in the camp.
  21.   15 And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be aking over Syria:
      16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou aanoint to be king over Israel: and bElisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou canoint to be prophet in thy room.
  22.   13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be aking over Syria.

      20 ¶ In his days Edom arevolted from under the bhand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
  23.   3 Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.

      6 And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the aoil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.

      12 And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel.
  24.   43 ¶ Now these are the kings that reigned in the land of aEdom before any king reigned over the children of Israel; Bela the son of Beor: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.
  25.   3 Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed aDavid bking over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.
  26.   38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.
  27.   2 And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.

      8 ¶ And when the Philistines heard that David was aanointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
  28.   1 So when David was old and full of days, he made aSolomon his son king over Israel.
  29.   4 Howbeit the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen aJudah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me bking over all Israel:
  30.   9 Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
  31.   11 ¶ Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the Lord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.
  32.   8 Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the Lord thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.
  33.   4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to aEgypt.

      10 And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to aBabylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the Lord, and made bZedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
  34.   26 Did not aSolomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.
  35.   34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
  36.   2 For the Lord most high is aterrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
  37.   12 ¶ I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
  38.   24 And aDavid my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one bshepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
  39.   1 In the first year of aDarius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
  40.   9 And the Lord shall be aking over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
  41.   11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
  42.   12 Behold, I am Amaleki, the son of Abinadom. Behold, I will speak unto you somewhat concerning aMosiah, who was made king over the bland of Zarahemla; for behold, he being cwarned of the Lord that he should dflee out of the eland of fNephi, and as many as would hearken unto the voice of the Lord should also gdepart out of the land with him, into the wilderness—
  43.   11 But I am like as yourselves, subject to all manner of infirmities in body and mind; yet I have been chosen by this people, and aconsecrated by bmy father, and was suffered by the hand of the Lord that I should be a ruler and a king over this people; and have been kept and preserved by his matchless power, to serve you with all the might, mind and strength which the Lord hath granted unto me.
  44.   3 And again, it came to pass that when king Benjamin had made an end of all these things, and had consecrated his son aMosiah to be a ruler and a king over his people, and had given him all the charges concerning the kingdom, and also had bappointed cpriests to dteach the people, that thereby they might hear and know the commandments of God, and to stir them up in remembrance of the eoath which they had made, he dismissed the multitude, and they returned, every one, according to their ffamilies, to their own houses.
  45.   21 And ye all are witnesses this day, that Zeniff, who was made king over this people, he being aover-zealous to inherit the land of his fathers, therefore being deceived by the cunning and craftiness of king Laman, who having entered into a treaty with king Zeniff, and having yielded up into his hands the possessions of a part of the land, or even the city of Lehi-Nephi, and the city of Shilom; and the land round about—
  46.   13 And now as ye have been delivered by the power of God out of these bonds; yea, even out of the ahands of king Noah and his people, and also from the bbonds of iniquity, even so I desire that ye should cstand fast in this dliberty wherewith ye have been made free, and that ye trust eno man to be a king over you.
  47.   3 And now the name of the king of the Lamanites was aLaman, being called after the name of his father; and therefore he was called king Laman. And he was king over a numerous people.
  48.   2 Now this Amlici had, by his cunning, adrawn away much people after him; even so much that they began to be very powerful; and they began to endeavor to establish Amlici to be a king over the people.

      7 And it came to pass that the avoice of the people came against Amlici, that he was not made king over the people.
          •  •  •
      10 Now when Amlici was made king over them he commanded them that they should take up arms against their brethren; and this he did that he might subject them to him.
  49.   17 Now this Melchizedek was a king over the land of Salem; and his people had waxed strong in iniquity and abomination; yea, they had all gone astray; they were full of all manner of wickedness;
  50.   9 And they said unto him: Behold, he is feeding thy ahorses. Now the king had commanded his servants, previous to the time of the watering of their flocks, that they should prepare his horses and chariots, and conduct him forth to the land of Nephi; for there had been a bgreat cfeast appointed at the land of Nephi, by the father of Lamoni, who was king over all the land.
     
  51.   8 And it came to pass that as Ammon and Lamoni were journeying thither, they met the father of Lamoni, who was king aover all the land.
  52.   2 And thus he did inspire their hearts against the Nephites, insomuch that in the latter end of the anineteenth year of the reign of the judges, he having accomplished his designs thus far, yea, having been made king over the Lamanites, he bsought also to creign over all the land, yea, and all the people who were in the land, the Nephites as well as the Lamanites.
  53.   5 And it came to pass that those who were desirous that Pahoran should be dethroned from the judgment-seat were called aking-men, for they were desirous that the law should be altered in a manner to overthrow the free government and to establish a bking over the land.
  54.   3 And it came to pass that the abrother of Amalickiah was appointed king over the people; and his name was bAmmoron; thus king Ammoron, the brother of king Amalickiah, was appointed to reign in his stead.
  55.   8 They have agot possession of the land, or the city, of Zarahemla; they have appointed a bking over them, and he hath written unto the king of the Lamanites, in the which he hath joined an alliance with him; in the which alliance he hath agreed to maintain the city of Zarahemla, which maintenance he supposeth will enable the Lamanites to conquer the remainder of the land, and he shall be placed king over this people when they shall be conquered cunder the Lamanites.
  56.   5 And also an hundred years had passed away since the days of aMosiah, who was king over the people of the Nephites.
  57.   30 And they did set at defiance the law and the rights of their country; and they did covenant one with another to destroy the governor, and to establish a aking over the land, that the land should no more be at bliberty but should be subject unto kings.
  58.   1 Now behold, I will show unto you that they did not establish a king over the land; but in this same year, yea, the thirtieth year, they did destroy upon the judgment-seat, yea, did murder the chief judge of the land.

      10 And they did call him their king; therefore he became a king over this wicked band; and he was one of the chiefest who had given his voice against the prophets who testified of Jesus.
  59.   22 And it came to pass that the people desired of them that they should aanoint one of their sons to be a king over them.

      27 And it came to pass that neither would the asons of Jared, even all save it were one; and bOrihah was anointed to be king over the people.
  60.   16 And he gave battle unto Shule, the king, in which he did obtain the land of their afirst inheritance; and he became a king over that part of the land.
  61.   4 And it came to pass that Jared was anointed king over the people, by the hand of wickedness; and he gave unto Akish his daughter to wife.
  62.   9 And it came to pass after the space of many years, Morianton, (he being a descendant of Riplakish) gathered together an army of outcasts, and went forth and gave battle unto the people; and he gained power over many cities; and the war became exceedingly sore, and did last for the space of many years; and he did gain power over all the land, and did establish himself king over all the land.
  63.   1 And it came to pass that the days of Ether were in the days of aCoriantumr; and Coriantumr was king over all the land.
