Be king

  1.   1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to aanoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.
          •  •  •
      11 aIt brepenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.
  2.   17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father aknoweth.
  3.   20 And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.
  4.   17 ¶ And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:
  5.   5 ¶ Then aAdonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

      35 Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
  6.   37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul adesireth, and shalt be king over Israel.
  7.   2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is aAhijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.
  8.   15 And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be aking over Syria:
      16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou aanoint to be king over Israel: and bElisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou canoint to be prophet in thy room.
  9.   13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be aking over Syria.
  10.   4 Howbeit the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen aJudah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me bking over all Israel:
  11.   8 Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the Lord thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.
  12.   6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and aGashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
  13.   22 And I will make them aone bnation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and cone king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more dtwo nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

      24 And aDavid my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one bshepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
  14.   5 ¶ He shall not return into the land of aEgypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
  15.   10 I will be thy aking: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a bking and princes?
  16.   9 And the Lord shall be aking over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
  17.   42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
  18.   38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and aglory in the highest.
  19.   37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
  20.   22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own aheart, which shall fulfil all my will.
  21.   18 And it came to pass that they would that I should be their aking. But I, Nephi, was desirous that they should have no king; nevertheless, I did for them according to that which was in my power.
  22.   14 For he that raiseth up a aking against me shall perish, for I, the Lord, the bking of heaven, will be their king, and I will be a clight unto them forever, that hear my words.
  23.   9 Now Nephi began to be old, and he saw that he must soon adie; wherefore, he banointed a man to be a king and a ruler over his people now, according to the reigns of the ckings.
  24.   19 And it came to pass that the people of Zarahemla, and of Mosiah, did aunite together; and bMosiah was appointed to be their king.
  25.   4 And also that they might give thanks to the Lord their God, who had brought them out of the land of Jerusalem, and who had delivered them out of the hands of their enemies, and had aappointed just men to be their bteachers, and also a just man to be their king, who had established peace in the cland of Zarahemla, and who had taught them to dkeep the commandments of God, that they might rejoice and be filled with elove towards God and all men.
  26.   6 And the people were desirous that Alma should be their aking, for he was beloved by his people.

      13 And now as ye have been delivered by the power of God out of these bonds; yea, even out of the ahands of king Noah and his people, and also from the bbonds of iniquity, even so I desire that ye should cstand fast in this dliberty wherewith ye have been made free, and that ye trust eno man to be a king over you.

      39 And the king of the Lamanites had granted unto Amulon that he should be a king and a ruler over his people, who were in the land of Helam; nevertheless he should have no power to do anything contrary to the will of the king of the Lamanites.
  27.   1 Now when Mosiah had done this he sent out throughout all the land, among all the people, desiring to know their will concerning who should be their king.
      2 And it came to pass that the voice of the people came, saying: We are desirous that Aaron thy son should be our king and our ruler.

      11 Therefore I will be your king the remainder of my days; nevertheless, let aus appoint bjudges, to judge this people according to our law; and we will newly arrange the affairs of this people, for we will appoint wise men to be judges, that will judge this people according to the commandments of God.
  28.   2 Now this Amlici had, by his cunning, adrawn away much people after him; even so much that they began to be very powerful; and they began to endeavor to establish Amlici to be a king over the people.

      9 And it came to pass that they gathered themselves together, and did aconsecrate Amlici to be their king.
  29.   2 And their hatred became exceedingly sore against them, even insomuch that they began to rebel against their king, insomuch that they would not that he should be their king; therefore, they took up arms against the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi.
  30.   4 And Amalickiah was desirous to be a aking; and those people who were wroth were also desirous that he should be their king; and they were the greater part of them the lower bjudges of the land, and they were seeking for power.
      5 And they had been led by the aflatteries of Amalickiah, that if they would support him and establish him to be their king that he would make them rulers over the people.
  31.   6 And they had appointed a man to be a king and a leader over them, being fixed in their minds with a determined resolution that they would anot be subjected to go against the Nephites.
  32.   8 They have agot possession of the land, or the city, of Zarahemla; they have appointed a bking over them, and he hath written unto the king of the Lamanites, in the which he hath joined an alliance with him; in the which alliance he hath agreed to maintain the city of Zarahemla, which maintenance he supposeth will enable the Lamanites to conquer the remainder of the land, and he shall be placed king over this people when they shall be conquered cunder the Lamanites.
  33.   22 And it came to pass that the people desired of them that they should aanoint one of their sons to be a king over them.

      25 And it came to pass that they chose even the firstborn of the brother of Jared; and his name was Pagag. And it came to pass that he refused and would not be their aking. And the people would that his father should constrain him, but his father would not; and he commanded them that they should constrain no man to be their king.
          •  •  •
      27 And it came to pass that neither would the asons of Jared, even all save it were one; and bOrihah was anointed to be king over the people.
  34.   14 And it came to pass that Omer began to be old; nevertheless, in his old age he begat Emer; and he anointed Emer to be king to reign in his stead.
      15 And after that he had anointed Emer to be king he saw peace in the land for the space of two years, and he died, having seen exceedingly many days, which were full of sorrow. And it came to pass that Emer did reign in his stead, and did fill the steps of his father.
  35.   10 And after that he had established himself king he did ease the burden of the people, by which he did gain favor in the eyes of the people, and they did anoint him to be their king.
  36.   21 But, verily I say unto you that in time ye shall have no aking nor ruler, for I will be your king and watch over you.
  37.   59 For the Lord shall be in their amidst, and his bglory shall be upon them, and he will be their cking and their dlawgiver.
