For . . . sake(s)

  1. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy awife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: bcursed is the ground for thy sake; in csorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
  2. 21 And the Lord smelled a sweet asavour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again bcurse the ground any more cfor man’s sake; for the dimagination of man’s heart is eevil from his youth; neither will I again fsmite any more every thing living, as I have done.
  3. 13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my asister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
    • • •
    16 And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.
  4. 26 And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty arighteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
    • • •
    29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty’s sake.
    • • •
    31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake.
    32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be aangry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will bnot destroy it for ten’s sake.
  5. 27 And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath ablessed me for thy bsake.
  6. 5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s asake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
  7. 8 And Moses told his father in law all that the Lord had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the Lord delivered them.
  8. 45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the asight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the Lord.
  9. 29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the Lord’s people were aprophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!
  10. 11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my ajealousy.
    • • •
    18 For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague afor Peor’s sake.
  11. 37 Also the Lord was aangry with me for your bsakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
  12. 26 But the Lord was awroth with me for your bsakes, and would not hear me: and the Lord said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.
  13. 21 Furthermore the Lord was aangry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:
  14. 22 And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be aguilty.
  15. 13 Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
  16. 10 Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.
  17. 1 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him akindness for bJonathan’s sake?
  18. 5 And the king commanded aJoab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, bDeal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.
  19. 13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give aone tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
    • • •
    32 (But he shall have aone tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
  20. 4 Nevertheless for David’s sake did the Lord his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:
  21. 21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he areproved kings for their sakes,
  22. 7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
  23. 22 Yea, for thy sake are we akilled all the day long; we are counted as bsheep for the slaughter.
  24. 6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord God of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
    7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
  25. 14 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he areproved kings for their sakes;
  26. 32 They angered him also at the waters of astrife, so that it went ill with Moses for their bsakes:
  27. 14 ¶ Thus saith the Lord, your aredeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.
  28. 15 Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
  29. 1 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
  30. 15 ¶ O Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and avisit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have bsuffered crebuke.
  31. 22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; I do not this for your asakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy bname’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.
    • • •
    32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
  32. 30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any awisdom that I have more than any living, but bfor their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
  33. 12 And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.
  34. 12 Therefore shall Zion for your asake be bplowed as a field, and cJerusalem shall become dheaps, and the mountain of ethe house as the high places of the forest.
  35. 11 And I will arebuke the bdevourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
  36. 10 Blessed are they which are apersecuted for brighteousnesssake: for ctheirs is the kingdom of heaven.
    11 Blessed are ye, when men shall arevile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of bevil against you falsely, cfor my sake.
  37. 18 And ye shall be brought before governors and akings bfor my sake, for a ctestimony against them and the Gentiles.
    • • •
    39 aHe that findeth his life shall blose it: and he that closeth his dlife for my sake shall find it.
  38. 3 ¶ For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.
  39. 25 aFor whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will blose his life for my sake shall cfind it.
  40. 17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her.
    • • •
    26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his aoath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he bwould not reject her.
  41. 35 aFor whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall blose his clife for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
  42. 29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
  43. 9 ¶ But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and akings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
  44. 24 aFor whosoever will save his life shall blose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
  45. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may abelieve; nevertheless let us go unto him.
  46. 9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
    • • •
    30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
  47. 37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I afollow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
    38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
  48. 19 And for their sakes I asanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
  49. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
  50. 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are akilled all the day long; we are accounted as bsheep for the slaughter.
  51. 28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
  52. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for aconscience sake.
  53. 6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be apuffed up for one against another.
    • • •
    10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
  54. 10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is awritten: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be bpartaker of his hope.
  55. 25 Whatsoever is sold in the ashambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
    • • •
    27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a afeast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
    28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:
  56. 10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the aperson of Christ;
  57. 5 For we apreach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your bservants for Jesus’ sake.
    • • •
    11 For we which live are alway delivered unto adeath for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our bmortal flesh.
    • • •
    15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the athanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
  58. 9 For ye know the agrace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was brich, yet for your sakes he became cpoor, that ye through his dpoverty might be rich.
  59. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in ainfirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in bpersecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am cweak, then am I dstrong.
  60. 32 And be ye akind one to another, tenderhearted, bforgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
  61. 29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to asuffer for his sake;
  62. 5 For our agospel bcame not unto you in cword only, but also in dpower, and in the eHoly Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what fmanner of men we were among you for your sake.
  63. 9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the ajoy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
  64. 9 Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
  65. 14 But and if ye asuffer for brighteousnesssake, chappy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
  66. 38 And he leadeth away the righteous into precious alands, and the wicked he bdestroyeth, and curseth the land unto them for their sakes.
  67. 7 Wherefore, this aland is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of bliberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound ccursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.
  68. 4 And now, behold, I would speak unto you concerning things which are, and which are to come; wherefore, I will read you the words of aIsaiah. And they are the words which my brother has desired that I should speak unto you. And I speak unto you for your sakes, that ye may learn and glorify the name of your God.
  69. 4 And if there were preaching which was asacred, or revelation which was great, or prophesying, that I should engraven the bheads of them upon these plates, and touch upon them as much as it were possible, for Christ’s sake, and for the sake of our people.
  70. 29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or acursed be the land for their sakes.
  71. 3 But, wo, wo, unto you that are not pure in heart, that are filthy this day before God; for except ye repent the land is acursed for your sakes; and the Lamanites, which are not bfilthy like unto you, nevertheless they are ccursed with a sore cursing, shall scourge you even unto destruction.
  72. 26 And now, for the sake of these things which I have spoken unto you—that is, for the sake of retaining a remission of your sins from day to day, that ye may awalk guiltless before God—I would that ye should bimpart of your substance to the cpoor, every man according to that which he hath, such as dfeeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.
  73. 16 Nevertheless, this did not put an end to the spreading of priestcraft through the land; for there were many who loved the vain things of the world, and they went forth preaching afalse doctrines; and this they did for the sake of briches and honor.
  74. 13 Now this was a great cause for lamentations among the people, while others were abasing themselves, succoring those who stood in need of their succor, such as imparting their substance to the apoor and the needy, feeding the hungry, and suffering all manner of bafflictions, for Christ’s csake, who should come according to the spirit of prophecy;
  75. 31 And he did rise up in great aswelling words before Alma, and did revile against the bpriests and teachers, accusing them of leading away the people after the silly traditions of their fathers, for the sake of glutting on the labors of the people.
  76. 11 And blessed are ye when men shall arevile you and persecute, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake;
  77. 35 And now I go unto the Father, because it is expedient that I should go unto the Father afor your sakes.
  78. 9 For in that day, for my sake shall the Father awork a work, which shall be a great and a bmarvelous cwork among them; and there shall be among them those who will not believe it, although a man shall declare it unto them.
  79. 15 Behold, they shall surely gather together aagainst thee, not by me; whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
  80. 11 And I will rebuke the adevourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the fields, saith the Lord of Hosts.
  81. 7 Therefore, whatsoever ye shall do, ye shall do it in my name; therefore ye shall call the church in my name; and ye shall call upon the Father in my name that he will bless the church for my sake.
  82. 17 But I did remain among them, but I was forbidden to apreach unto them, because of the hardness of their hearts; and because of the hardness of their hearts the land was bcursed for their sake.
  83. 4 And it came to pass that he wrote an epistle unto Shiz, desiring him that he would spare the people, and he would give up the kingdom for the sake of the lives of the people.
  84. 1 Behold, I say unto you that it is not expedient in me that ye should atranslate any more until ye shall go to the Ohio, and this because of the enemy and for your sakes.
  85. 75 But if ye shall find that any persons have left their companions for the sake of aadultery, and they themselves are the offenders, and their companions are living, they shall be bcast out from among you.
  86. 48 And the Father ateacheth him of the covenant which he has brenewed and confirmed upon you, which is confirmed upon you for your sakes, and not for your sakes only, but for the sake of the cwhole world.
  87. 46 I called you aservants for the world’s sake, and ye are their servants for my sake
  88. 35 And all they who suffer apersecution for my name, and endure in faith, though they are called to lay down their lives for my bsake yet shall they partake of all this glory.
  89. 27 Let no man be afraid to lay down his alife for my sake; for whoso blayeth down his life for my sake shall find it again.
    28 And whoso is not willing to lay down his life for my sake is not my disciple.
  90. 23 And unto Adam, I, the Lord God, said: Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the fruit of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying—Thou shalt not eat of it, acursed shall be the ground for thy sake; in bsorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.
  91. 50 Wherefore Lamech, being angry, slew him, not like unto Cain, his brother Abel, for the sake of getting gain, but he slew him for the aoath’s sake.
  92. 25 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my asister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.
