Now this was a great trial to those that did stand fast in the faith;
nevertheless, they were steadfast and immovable in keeping the
commandments of God, and they borewithpatience the persecution which was heaped upon them.

Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back,
behold, the Lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the
Lamanites, and bearwithpatience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success.
