"The rich"

  1. 15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the Lord, to make an atonement for your souls.
  2. 1 And the Lord sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
    2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
    • • •
    4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
  3. 19 The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
  4. 19 How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.
  5. 12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.
  6. 15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
  7. 20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
  8. 11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
    • • •
    23 The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
  9. 2 The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
    • • •
    7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
    • • •
    16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
  10. 11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
  11. 12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
  12. 6 Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.
    • • •
    20 ¶ Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
  13. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
  14. 23 ¶ Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
  15. 12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
  16. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
  17. 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
    22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
  18. 1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
  19. 10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
    11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
  20. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
  21. 30 But wo unto the rich, who are rich as to the things of the world. For because they are rich they despise the poor, and they persecute the meek, and their hearts are upon their treasures; wherefore, their treasure is their god. And behold, their treasure shall perish with them also.
  22. 15 O the wise, and the learned, and the rich, that are puffed up in the pride of their hearts, and all those who preach false doctrines, and all those who commit whoredoms, and pervert the right way of the Lord, wo, wo, wo be unto them, saith the Lord God Almighty, for they shall be thrust down to hell!
  23. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no evil, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
  24. 16 And for your salvation I give unto you a commandment, for I have heard your prayers, and the poor have complained before me, and the rich have I made, and all flesh is mine, and I am no respecter of persons.
    17 And I have made the earth rich, and behold it is my footstool, wherefore, again I will stand upon it.
  25. 10 First, the rich and the learned, the wise and the noble;
    • • •
    47 Let them preach by the way, and bear testimony of the truth in all places, and call upon the rich, the high and the low, and the poor to repent.
  26. 112 And the bishop, Newel K. Whitney, also should travel round about and among all the churches, searching after the poor to administer to their wants by humbling the rich and the proud.
  27. 16 But it must needs be done in mine own way; and behold this is the way that I, the Lord, have decreed to provide for my saints, that the poor shall be exalted, in that the rich are made low.
