Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword,
and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his
head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead,
they fled.

Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword,
and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and
thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he
was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

And I, Nephi, did take the sword of Laban, and after the manner of it did make many swords,

And now it came to pass that when the king had made an end of these sayings, and all the people were assembled together, they took their swords, and all the weapons which were used for the shedding of man’s blood, and they did bury them up deep in the earth.

Therefore, they would suffer death in the most aggravating and
distressing manner which could be inflicted by their brethren, before
they would take the sword or cimeter to smite them.

Yea, behold I do not fear your power nor your authority, but it is my
God whom I fear; and it is according to his commandments that I do take my sword to defend the cause of my country, and it is because of your iniquity that we have suffered so much loss.
