Wisdom and understanding

  1. 3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
  2. 31 And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;
  3. 1 Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the Lord put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the Lord had commanded.
  4. 6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
  5. 29 ¶ And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
  6. 14 He was a widow’s son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.
  7. 12 Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God.
  8. 12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
    13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
  9. 12 But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
    • • •
    20 Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
    • • •
    28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
  10. 36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
  11. 17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
  12. 3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
  13. 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
  14. 2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
  15. 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
    • • •
    6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
  16. 13 ¶ Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
    • • •
    19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
  17. 5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
    • • •
    7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
  18. 1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
  19. 4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
  20. 1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
    • • •
    5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
    • • •
    14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
  21. 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
  22. 13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
    • • •
    23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
  23. 12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
  24. 8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
    • • •
    33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
  25. 21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
  26. 16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
  27. 24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
  28. 8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
  29. 30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.
  30. 23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
  31. 3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
  32. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
  33. 14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
  34. 15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.
  35. 4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:
  36. 4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
    • • •
    17 ¶ As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
    • • •
    20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
  37. 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
  38. 11 There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
    • • •
    14 I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.
  39. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
  40. 9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
  41. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
  42. 2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
  43. 26 Therefore, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, yea, a marvelous work and a wonder, for the wisdom of their wise and learned shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent shall be hid.
  44. 20 O how marvelous are the works of the Lord, and how long doth he suffer with his people; yea, and how blind and impenetrable are the understandings of the children of men; for they will not seek wisdom, neither do they desire that she should rule over them!
  45. 35 Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name.
  46. 9 And also let my servant Sidney Gilbert obtain a license—behold here is wisdom, and whoso readeth let him understand—that he may send goods also unto the people, even by whom he will as clerks employed in his service;
  47. 5 Now, behold this is wisdom; whoso readeth, let him understand and receive also;
  48. 9 And their wisdom shall be great, and their understanding reach to heaven; and before them the wisdom of the wise shall perish, and the understanding of the prudent shall come to naught.
