But God

  1.   3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
  2.   5 And said unto them, I see your father’s countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me.
          •  •  •
7 And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.
          •  •  •
29 It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.
  3.   8 So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
  4.   21 And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
  5.   20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
  6.   18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
  7.   13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
  8.   19 But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
  9.   14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
  10.   27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
  11.   3 But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
  12.   18 But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
  13.   15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
  14.   7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
  15.   19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
  16.   21 But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.
  17.   26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
  18.   7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
  19.   3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
  20.   12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
  21.   13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
  22.   7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.
  23.   26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
  24.   7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
  25.   27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
  26.   37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
  27.   21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
  28.   20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
  29.   15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
  30.   13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
  31.   4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
  32.   9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
  33.   28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
  34.   30 But God raised him from the dead:
  35.   29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
  36.   8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
  37.   17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
  38.   16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
  39.   1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
  40.   27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
  41.   10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
  42.   6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
  43.   13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
  44.   15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
          •  •  •
17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.
  45.   6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
  46.   13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
  47.   24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
  48.   2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
  49.   38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
  50.   9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
          •  •  •
18 But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.
  51.   18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
          •  •  •
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
  52.   14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
  53.   4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
  54.   27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
  55.   19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
  56.   4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
  57.   8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
  58.   10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
  59.   14 And I said unto him: What am I that I should tempt God to show unto thee a sign in the thing which thou knowest to be true? Yet thou wilt deny it, because thou art of the devil. Nevertheless, not my will be done; but if God shall smite thee, let that be a sign unto thee that he has power, both in heaven and in earth; and also, that Christ shall come. And thy will, O Lord, be done, and not mine.
  60.   2 And it is many hundred years after the coming of Christ that I deliver these records into the hands of my son; and it supposeth me that he will witness the entire destruction of my people. But may God grant that he may survive them, that he may write somewhat concerning them, and somewhat concerning Christ, that perhaps some day it may profit them.
  61.   22 And if ye judge the man who putteth up his petition to you for your substance that he perish not, and condemn him, how much more just will be your condemnation for withholding your substance, which doth not belong to you but to God, to whom also your life belongeth; and yet ye put up no petition, nor repent of the thing which thou hast done.
  62.   35 Now Zeezrom said unto the people: See that ye remember these things; for he said there is but one God; yet he saith that the Son of God shall come, but he shall not save his people—as though he had authority to command God.
  63.   33 But God did call on men, in the name of his Son, (this being the plan of redemption which was laid) saying: If ye will repent, and harden not your hearts, then will I have mercy upon you, through mine Only Begotten Son;
  64.   5 And the people went forth and witnessed against them—testifying that they had reviled against the law, and their lawyers and judges of the land, and also of all the people that were in the land; and also testified that there was but one God, and that he should send his Son among the people, but he should not save them; and many such things did the people testify against Alma and Amulek. Now this was done before the chief judge of the land.
  65.   4 And I would not that ye think that I know of myself—not of the temporal but of the spiritual, not of the carnal mind but of God.
      5 Now, behold, I say unto you, if I had not been born of God I should not have known these things; but God has, by the mouth of his holy angel, made these things known unto me, not of any worthiness of myself;
6 For I went about with the sons of Mosiah, seeking to destroy the church of God; but behold, God sent his holy angel to stop us by the way.
  66.   4 Behold, there is a time appointed that all shall come forth from the dead. Now when this time cometh no one knows; but God knoweth the time which is appointed.
  67.   23 But God ceaseth not to be God, and mercy claimeth the penitent, and mercy cometh because of the atonement; and the atonement bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead; and the resurrection of the dead bringeth back men into the presence of God; and thus they are restored into his presence, to be judged according to their works, according to the law and justice.
  68.   10 But remember, God is merciful; therefore, repent of that which thou hast done which is contrary to the commandment which I gave you, and thou art still chosen, and art again called to the work;
  69.   20 Let no man think he is ruler; but let God rule him that judgeth, according to the counsel of his own will, or, in other words, him that counseleth or sitteth upon the judgment seat.
  70.   112 And they shall be servants of the Most High; but where God and Christ dwell they cannot come, worlds without end.
  71.   50 But God hath made known unto our fathers that all men must repent.
