And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children byher. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

And about the time of her death the women that stood byher said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.

And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, andher hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken byher.

This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth byher shall hiss, and wag his hand.

Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried herbyher husband.

And he would not for a while, but afterward he said within himself:
Though I fear not God, nor regard man, yet because this widow troubleth
me I will avenge her, lest byher continual coming she weary me.
