Men of

  1.   4 There were agiants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
  2.   13 But the men of aSodom were bwicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
  3.   23 ¶ And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and acircumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.

      27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
  4.   4 ¶ But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
  5.   13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw awater:
  6.   7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my asister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was bfair to look upon.
  7.   22 And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a afeast.
  8.   20 ¶ And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the agate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,
  9.   21 Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place.
      22 And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
  10.   11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

      14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
  11.   6 The land of aEgypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
  12.   13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore asmitest thou thy fellow?
  13.   15 Then the adukes of bEdom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall cmelt away.
  14.   21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people aable men, such as bfear God, cmen of truth, hating dcovetousness; and place such over them, to be erulers of thousands, and rulers of fhundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

      25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them aheads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
  15.   5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed apeace offerings of oxen unto the Lord.
  16.   27 (For all these aabominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
  17.   16 ¶ And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me aseventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and bofficers over them; and bring them unto the ctabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

      24 ¶ And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the Lord, and gathered the aseventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.
  18.   32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
  19.   2 And they arose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
  20.   11 And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.

      21 ¶ And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord commanded Moses;
          •  •  •
      28 And levy a tribute unto the Lord of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep:
          •  •  •
      32 And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,
          •  •  •
      49 And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.
          •  •  •
      53 (For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)
  21.   23 And the saying pleased me well: and I took atwelve men of you, one of a tribe:
          •  •  •
      35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this aevil generation bsee that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
  22.   14 And the aspace in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the bmen of war cwere wasted out from among the host, as the Lord sware unto them.

      16 ¶ So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
  23.   21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
  24.   21 Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she adie: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
  25.   14 ¶ And the Levites shall aspeak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
  26.   10 ¶ Ye stand this day all of you before the Lord your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
  27.   14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;
  28.   12 Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.
  29.   2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
  30.   4 And this is the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.

      6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they aobeyed not the voice of the Lord: unto whom the Lord sware that he would not shew them the bland, which the Lord csware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
  31.   2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
      3 And ye shall acompass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
  32.   4 So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they afled before the men of Ai.
      5 And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto aShebarim, and smote them in the bgoing down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.
  33.   3 ¶ So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night.

      14 ¶ And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he awist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city.
          •  •  •
      20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.
      21 And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again, and slew the men of Ai.

      25 And so it was, that all that fell that day, both of men and women, were twelve thousand, even all the men of Ai.
  34.   6 And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.
      7 And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a aleague with you?

      14 And the men took of their victuals, and asked not acounsel at the mouth of the Lord.
  35.   6 ¶ And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
      7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

      24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and aput their feet upon the necks of them.
  36.   11 And ye went over Jordan, and came unto aJericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.
  37.   29 And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all alusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.
  38.   6 And she sent and called aBarak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
  39.   27 Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.
      28 ¶ And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.

      30 Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.
  40.   23 And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the aMidianites.
      24 ¶ And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Beth-barah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Beth-barah and Jordan.
  41.   1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.

      5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after aZebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.
          •  •  •
      8 ¶ And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.
      9 And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.
          •  •  •
      14 And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.
      15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?
      16 And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.
      17 And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.

      22 ¶ Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.
  42.   2 Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.
      3 And his mother’s brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.

      6 And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the aplain of the pillar that was in Shechem.
      7 ¶ And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount aGerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.

      18 And ye are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)
          •  •  •
      20 But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.
          •  •  •
      23 Then God asent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
      24 That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.
      25 And the men of Shechem set aliers in wait for him in the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them: and it was told Abimelech.
      26 And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem: and the men of Shechem put their confidence in him.

      28 And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of aHamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?
          •  •  •
      39 And Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech.
          •  •  •
      46 ¶ And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith.
      47 And it was told Abimelech, that all the men of the tower of Shechem were gathered together.
          •  •  •
      49 And all the people likewise cut down every man his bough, and followed Abimelech, and put them to the hold, and set the hold on fire upon them; so that all the men of the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
          •  •  •
      55 And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man unto his place.
          •  •  •
      57 And all the aevil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
  43.   1 And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.
          •  •  •
      4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
      5 And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;
  44.   18 And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.
      19 ¶ And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
  45.   10 And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
      11 Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are arulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
  46.   2 And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.
  47.   16 ¶ And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he asojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.

      22 ¶ Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may aknow him.
  48.   5 And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they aforced, that she is dead.

      10 And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch avictual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.
      11 So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, aknit together as one man.
          •  •  •
      17 And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.
          •  •  •
      20 And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah.
          •  •  •
      22 And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.
          •  •  •
      31 And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite of the people, and kill, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God, and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
          •  •  •
      33 And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baal-tamar: and the liers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.
      34 And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was asore: but they knew not that evil was near them.

      36 So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.
          •  •  •
      38 Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.
      39 And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.

      41 And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.
      42 Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
          •  •  •
      44 And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour.
      45 And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they agleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.
      46 So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour.

      48 And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
  49.   1 Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.

      10 And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.
  50.   2 And he took ten men of the aelders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
     
  51.   7 And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.

      9 And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the ahand of the Lord was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.
  52.   15 And the Levites took down the ark of the Lord, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the Lord.

      19 ¶ And he asmote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had blooked into the ark of the Lord, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.
      20 And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy Lord God? and to whom shall he go up from us?
  53.   1 And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and fetched up the aark of the Lord, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the Lord.

      11 And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth-car.
  54.   22 And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.
  55.   1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh-gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.

      5 And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
          •  •  •
      8 And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
      9 And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabesh-gilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
      10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.

      15 And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the Lord in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the Lord; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
  56.   2 Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Beth-el, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.

      6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did ahide themselves in bcaves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.
  57.   12 And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the Lord hath adelivered them into the hand of Israel.

      22 Likewise all the men of Israel which had ahid themselves in mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
          •  •  •
      24 ¶ And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
  58.   4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
  59.   2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines.

      19 Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
          •  •  •
      24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.
      25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.

      52 And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
  60.   5 ¶ And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
  61.   11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.
      12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up.
  62.   2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.

      4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the Lord said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the askirt of Saul’s robe bprivily.
  63.   25 Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even aNabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.
  64.   2 Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
  65.   22 Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
  66.   1 Now the aPhilistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

      7 ¶ And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
  67.   4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed aDavid king over the house of bJudah. And they told David, saying, That the men of cJabesh-gilead were they that buried Saul.
      5 ¶ And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.

      17 And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
  68.   1 Again, David agathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
  69.   6 ¶ And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of aIsh-tob twelve thousand men.

      9 When Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:

  70.   17 And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
  71.   6 And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so aAbsalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

  73.   14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the Lord had aappointed to defeat the good bcounsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring evil upon Absalom.

  74.   14 And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

      42 And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of akin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?
      43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
  75.   2 So every man of Israel went up from after David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.

      4 ¶ Then said the king to aAmasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and be thou here present.

  76.   6 Let seven men of his asons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the Lord in bGibeah of Saul, whom the Lord did choose. And the king said, I will give them.

      17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah asuccoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt bgo no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
  77.   9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

      40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.
  96.   40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

      16 Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the aeunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:
  146.   9 Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh’s house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;
  147.   27 Behold, I will awatch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

  208.   48 And it came to pass that when the men of Moroni saw the fierceness and the anger of the Lamanites, they were about to shrink and flee from them. And Moroni, perceiving their intent, sent forth and inspired their hearts with these thoughts—yea, the thoughts of their lands, their liberty, yea, their freedom from bondage.

  213.   18 And it came to pass that the armies did march forth against them; and they did pull down their pride and their nobility, insomuch that as they did lift their weapons of war to fight against the men of Moroni they were hewn down and leveled to the earth.
  214.   28 And now behold, when the chief captains of the Lamanites had beheld Lehi with his army coming against them, they fled in much confusion, lest perhaps they should not obtain the city Mulek before Lehi should overtake them; for they were wearied because of their march, and the men of Lehi were fresh.

      31 And it came to pass that before the Lamanites had retreated far they were surrounded by the Nephites, by the men of Moroni on one hand, and the men of Lehi on the other, all of whom were fresh and full of strength; but the Lamanites were wearied because of their long march.
