And it came to pass that the prophets of the Lord did threaten the people of Nephi, according to the word of God, that if theydidnot keep the commandments, but should fall into transgression, they should be destroyed from off the face of the land.
And now, my son, we see thattheydidnot repent; therefore they
have been destroyed, and thus far the word of God has been fulfilled;
yea, their secret abominations have been brought out of darkness and
made known unto us.
And it came to pass thattheydidnot head them until they had come to the borders of the land Desolation; and there theydid head them, by the narrow pass which led by the sea into the land northward, yea, by the sea, on the west and on the east.
But it came to pass thattheydidnot pursue us far before they halted; and it was in the morning of the third day of the seventh month.

Now they never had fought, yet theydidnot fear death; and theydid think more upon the liberty of their fathers than theydid upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if theydidnot doubt, God would deliver them.
Now it came to pass that Moroni marched forth on the morrow, and came upon the Lamanites, insomuch thattheydid slay them with a great slaughter; and theydid drive them out of the land; and theydid flee, even thattheydidnot return at that time against the Nephites.
And it came to pass that those people who sought to destroy Nephi were compelled because of their fear, thattheydidnot lay their hands on him; therefore he began again to speak unto them, seeing that he had gained favor in the eyes of some, insomuch that the remainder of them did fear.
Now behold, I will show unto you thattheydidnot establish a king over the land; but in this same year, yea, the thirtieth year, theydid destroy upon the judgment-seat, yea, did murder the chief judge of the land.
