I command you to bring Abinadi hither, that I may slay him, for he has
said these things that he might stir up my people to anger onewithanother, and to raise contentions among my people; therefore I will slay him.

And he commanded them that there should be no contentiononewithanother, but that they should look forward withone eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another.

And it came to pass that the people assembled themselves together
throughout all the land, every man according to his mind, whether it
were for or against Amlici, in separate bodies, having much dispute and
wonderful contentionsonewithanother.

And it came to pass that they would not hearken unto his words; and there began to be contentions, insomuch that they were divided against themselves and began to slay oneanotherwith the sword.

For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, onewithanother.

And it came to pass in the thirty and sixth year, the people were all
converted unto the Lord, upon all the face of the land, both Nephites
and Lamanites, and there were no contentions and disputations among them, and every man did deal justly onewithanother.
