¶ Whatprofiteth the
graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image,
and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to
make dumb idols?

Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and whatprofitis it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?

Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

Whatdoth itprofit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; whatdoth itprofit?

And now, if we do not receive anything for our labors in the church, what doth it profit us to labor in the church save it were to declare the truth, that we may have rejoicings in the joy of our brethren?

For what doth it profit
a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he receive not the gift?
Behold, he rejoices not in that which is given unto him, neither
rejoices in him who is the giver of the gift.
