But Melchizedek having exercised mighty faith, and received the office
of the high priesthood according to the holy order of God, did preach repentance unto his people. And behold, they did repent; and Melchizedek didestablish peace in the land in his days; therefore he was called the prince of peace, for he was the king of Salem; and he did reign under his father.

And it came to pass that there were many that did believe in their words; and as many as did believe were baptized; and they became a righteous people, and they didestablish a church among them.

Yea, and I also remember the captivity of my fathers; for I surely do know that the Lord did deliver them out of bondage, and by this didestablish his church; yea, the Lord God, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, did deliver them out of bondage.

Yea, and that same God didestablish
his church among them; yea, and that same God hath called me by a holy
calling, to preach the word unto this people, and hath given me much
success, in the which my joy is full.

And behold, I am called Mormon, being called after the land of Mormon, the land in which Alma didestablish the church among the people, yea, the first church which was established among them after their transgression.

And they granted unto those robbers who had entered into a covenant to
keep the peace of the land, who were desirous to remain Lamanites,
lands, according to their numbers, that they might have, with their
labors, wherewith to subsist upon; and thus they didestablish peace in all the land.

of the people, who were united together save it were their leaders didestablish
their laws, every one according to his tribe; nevertheless they were
enemies; notwithstanding they were not a righteous people, yet they were
united in the hatred of those who had entered into a covenant to
destroy the government.

And it came to pass in the thirty and first year that they
were divided into tribes, every man according to his family, kindred
and friends; nevertheless they had come to an agreement that they would
not go to war one with another; but they were not united as to their
laws, and their manner of government, for they were established
according to the minds of those who were their chiefs and their leaders.
But they didestablish
very strict laws that one tribe should not trespass against another,
insomuch that in some degree they had peace in the land; nevertheless,
their hearts were turned from the Lord their God, and they did stone the prophets and did cast them out from among them.

And it came to pass after the space of many years, Morianton, (he being a
descendant of Riplakish) gathered together an army of outcasts, and
went forth and gave battle unto the people; and he gained power over
many cities; and the war became exceedingly sore, and did last for the space of many years; and he did gain power over all the land, and didestablish himself king over all the land.
