2
That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there.
• • •
10
And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O Lord, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the Lord thy God, and worship before the Lord thy God:
• • •
13
Then thou shalt say before the Lord thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine
house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger,
to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:
• • •
15
Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
33
The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
34
So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
• • •
36
The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
• • •
60
Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
• • •
64
And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
• • •
67
In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
26
And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.
• • •
29
That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
• • •
34
Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.
• • •
36
Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
• • •
40
That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
• • •
44
¶ If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the Lord toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:
• • •
48
And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
• • •
51
For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:
4
Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
• • •
6
And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto
us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus
saith the Lord, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
• • •
16
And he said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
15
Thou which hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him; and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.
16
Now therefore, O Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou
hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight
to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to
their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
17
Now then, O Lord God of Israel, let thy word be verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David.
• • •
25
Then hear thou from the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers.
• • •
27
Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.
• • •
31
That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
• • •
34
If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;
• • •
38
If they return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in
the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captives,
and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name:
4
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
• • •
6
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
• • •
8
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9
I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
• • •
22
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
• • •
24
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
29
And after these plain and precious things were taken away it goeth forth
unto all the nations of the Gentiles; and after it goeth forth unto all
the nations of the Gentiles, yea, even across the many waters which thou hast seen with the Gentiles which have gone forth out of captivity, thou seest—because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, which were plain unto the understanding of the children of men, according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God—because of these things which
are taken away out of the gospel of the Lamb, an exceedingly great many
do stumble, yea, insomuch that Satan hath great power over them.
• • •
32
Neither will the Lord God suffer that the Gentiles shall forever remain in that awful state of blindness, which thou beholdest they are in, because of the plain and most precious parts of the gospel of the Lamb which have been kept back by that abominable church, whose formation thou hast seen.
• • •
40
And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen among the Gentiles, shall establish the truth of the first, which are of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, and shall make known the plain and precious things which
have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds,
tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal
Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto
him, or they cannot be saved.
15
And it came to pass that after Aaron had expounded these things unto
him, the king said: What shall I do that I may have this eternal life of
which thou hast
spoken? Yea, what shall I do that I may be born of God, having this
wicked spirit rooted out of my breast, and receive his Spirit, that I
may be filled with joy, that I may not be cast off at the last day?
Behold, said he, I will give up all that I possess, yea, I will forsake
my kingdom, that I may receive this great joy.
16
But Aaron said unto him: If thou desirest this thing, if thou wilt bow down before God, yea, if thou
wilt repent of all thy sins, and will bow down before God, and call on
his name in faith, believing that ye shall receive, then shalt thou receive the hope which thou desirest.
23
And I said unto him: Lord, the Gentiles will mock at these things, because of our weakness in writing; for Lord thou hast made us mighty in word by faith, but thou hast not made us mighty in writing; for thou hast made all this people that they could speak much, because of the Holy Ghost which thou hast given them;
• • •
32
And I also remember that thou hast said that thou hast prepared a house for man, yea, even among the mansions of thy Father, in which man might have a more excellent hope; wherefore man must hope, or he cannot receive an inheritance in the place which thou hast prepared.
• • •
34
And now I know that this love which thou hast had for the children of men is charity; wherefore, except men shall have charity they cannot inherit that place which thou hast prepared in the mansions of thy Father.
35
Wherefore, I know by this thing which thou hast said, that if the Gentiles have not charity, because of our weakness, that thou wilt prove them, and take away their talent, yea, even that which they have received, and give unto them who shall have more abundantly.
D&C 109: 4, 11, 21, 23, 30, 41, 51, 59-60, 64, 68, 72
4
And now we ask thee, Holy Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son
of thy bosom, in whose name alone salvation can be administered to the
children of men, we ask thee, O Lord, to accept of this house, the
workmanship of the hands of us, thy servants, which thou didst command us to build.
• • •
11
And in a manner that we may be found worthy, in thy sight, to secure a fulfilment of the promises which thou hast made unto us, thy people, in the revelations given unto us;
• • •
21
And when thy people transgress, any of them, they may speedily repent
and return unto thee, and find favor in thy sight, and be restored to
the blessings which thou hast ordained to be poured out upon those who shall reverence thee in thy house.
• • •
23
And from this place they may bear exceedingly great and glorious
tidings, in truth, unto the ends of the earth, that they may know that
this is thy work, and that thou hast put forth thy hand, to fulfil that which thou hast spoken by the mouths of the prophets, concerning the last days.
• • •
30
And that all their works may be brought to naught, and be swept away by the hail, and by the judgments which thou wilt send upon them in thine anger, that there may be an end to lyings and slanders against thy people.
• • •
41
And whatsoever city thy servants shall enter, and the people of that
city receive not the testimony of thy servants, and thy servants warn
them to save themselves from this untoward generation, let it be upon
that city according to that which thou hast spoken by the mouths of thy prophets.
• • •
51
But if they will not, make bare thine arm, O Lord, and redeem that which thou didst appoint a Zion unto thy people.
• • •
59
We ask thee to appoint unto Zion other stakes besides this one which thou
hast appointed, that the gathering of thy people may roll on in great
power and majesty, that thy work may be cut short in righteousness.
60
Now these words, O Lord, we have spoken before thee, concerning the revelations and commandments which thou hast given unto us, who are identified with the Gentiles.
• • •
64
And the children of Judah may begin to return to the lands which thou didst give to Abraham, their father.
• • •
68
O Lord, remember thy servant, Joseph Smith, Jun., and all his
afflictions and persecutions—how he has covenanted with Jehovah, and
vowed to thee, O Mighty God of Jacob—and the commandments which thou hast given unto him, and that he hath sincerely striven to do thy will.
• • •
72
Remember all thy church, O Lord, with all their families, and all their
immediate connections, with all their sick and afflicted ones, with all
the poor and meek of the earth; that the kingdom, which thou hast set up without hands, may become a great mountain and fill the whole earth;
3
And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of
the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord
thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
• • •
5
And the Lord said unto me: The planet which is the lesser light, lesser than that which is to rule the day, even the night, is above or greater than that upon which thou standest in point of reckoning, for it moveth in order more slow; this is in order because it standeth above the earth upon which thou standest, therefore the reckoning of its time is not so many as to its number of days, and of months, and of years.
6
And the Lord said unto me: Now, Abraham, these two facts exist, behold
thine eyes see it; it is given unto thee to know the times of reckoning,
and the set time, yea, the set time of the earth upon which thou standest, and the set time of the greater light which is set to rule the day, and the set time of the lesser light which is set to rule the night.
7
Now the set time of the lesser light is a longer time as to its reckoning than the reckoning of the time of the earth upon which thou standest.
• • •
9
And thus there shall be the reckoning of the time of one planet above another, until thou come nigh unto Kolob, which Kolob is after the reckoning of the Lord’s time; which Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
