21
Hearken therefore unto the supplications of thy servant, and of thy
people Israel, which they shall make toward this place: hear thou from thy dwelling place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest, forgive.
• • •
23
Then hear thou from heaven,
and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting the wicked, by
recompensing his way upon his own head; and by justifying the righteous,
by giving him according to his righteousness.
• • •
27
Then hear thou from heaven,
and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when
thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send
rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an
inheritance.
• • •
30
Then hear thou from heaven
thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according
unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the
hearts of the children of men:)
13
Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
• • •
15
And gavest them bread from heaven
for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock
for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess
the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.
• • •
27
Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who
vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee,
thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.
28
But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore
leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the
dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou
heardest them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies;
31
Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
• • •
38
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
• • •
41
The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
42
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and
mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
• • •
50
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51
I am the living bread which came down from heaven:
if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread
that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world.
• • •
58
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
17
And I, Lehi, according to the things which I have read, must needs
suppose that an angel of God, according to that which is written, had
fallen from heaven; wherefore, he became a devil, having sought that which was evil before God.
18
And because he had fallen from heaven,
and had become miserable forever, he sought also the misery of all
mankind. Wherefore, he said unto Eve, yea, even that old serpent, who is
the devil, who is the father of all lies, wherefore he said: Partake of
the forbidden fruit, and ye shall not die, but ye shall be as God,
knowing good and evil.
52
And if it cannot be otherwise, that the cause of thy people may not fail
before thee may thine anger be kindled, and thine indignation fall upon
them, that they may be wasted away, both root and branch, from under heaven;

O Lord God Almighty, hear us in these our petitions, and answer us from heaven,
thy holy habitation, where thou sittest enthroned, with glory, honor,
power, majesty, might, dominion, truth, justice, judgment, mercy, and an
infinity of fulness, from everlasting to everlasting.
14
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is
natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the
earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as are the records on the earth in relation to your dead, which are truly made out, so also are the records in heaven.
This, therefore, is the sealing and binding power, and, in one sense
of the word, the keys of the kingdom, which consist in the key of
knowledge.

Now, what do we hear in the gospel which we have received? A voice of gladness! A voice of mercy from heaven;
and a voice of truth out of the earth; glad tidings for the dead; a
voice of gladness for the living and the dead; glad tidings of great
joy. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that bring
glad tidings of good things, and that say unto Zion: Behold, thy God
reigneth! As the dews of Carmel, so shall the knowledge of God descend
upon them!
20
And again, what do we hear? Glad tidings from Cumorah! Moroni, an angel from heaven,
declaring the fulfilment of the prophets—the book to be revealed. A
voice of the Lord in the wilderness of Fayette, Seneca county, declaring
the three witnesses to bear record of the book! The voice of Michael
on the banks of the Susquehanna, detecting the devil when he appeared as
an angel of light! The voice of Peter, James, and John in the
wilderness between Harmony, Susquehanna county, and Colesville, Broome
county, on the Susquehanna river, declaring themselves as possessing the
keys of the kingdom, and of the dispensation of the fulness of times!

Let the mountains shout for joy, and all ye valleys cry aloud; and all
ye seas and dry lands tell the wonders of your Eternal King! And ye
rivers, and brooks, and rills, flow down with gladness. Let the woods
and all the trees of the field praise the Lord; and ye solid rocks weep
for joy! And let the sun, moon, and the morning stars sing together,
and let all the sons of God shout for joy! And let the eternal
creations declare his name forever and ever! And again I say, how
glorious is the voice we hear from heaven,
proclaiming in our ears, glory, and salvation, and honor, and
immortality, and eternal life; kingdoms, principalities, and powers!
