5
And men are instructed sufficiently that they know good from evil. And the law is given unto men. And by the law no flesh is justified; or, by the law men are cut off. Yea, by the temporal law they were cut off; and also, by the spiritual law they perish from that which is good, and become miserable forever.

And because of the intercession for all, all men come unto God;
wherefore, they stand in the presence of him, to be judged of him
according to the truth and holiness which is in him. Wherefore, the ends
of the law which the Holy One hath given,
unto the inflicting of the punishment which is affixed, which
punishment that is affixed is in opposition to that of the happiness
which is affixed, to answer the ends of the atonement—

26
And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the
children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from
the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act
for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of
the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.
25
Wherefore, he has given a law; and where there is no law given
there is no punishment; and where there is no punishment there is no
condemnation; and where there is no condemnation the mercies of the Holy
One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement; for they
are delivered by the power of him.
26
For the atonement satisfieth the demands of his justice upon all those who have not the law given
to them, that they are delivered from that awful monster, death and
hell, and the devil, and the lake of fire and brimstone, which is
endless torment; and they are restored to that God who gave them breath,
which is the Holy One of Israel.
27
But wo unto him that has the law given,
yea, that has all the commandments of God, like unto us, and that
transgresseth them, and that wasteth the days of his probation, for
awful is his state!
15
And whosoever has committed iniquity, him have I punished according to the crime which he has committed, according to the law which has been given to us by our fathers.

25
Therefore, choose you by the voice of this people, judges, that ye may be judged according to the laws which have been given you by our fathers, which are correct, and which were given them by the hand of the Lord.
• • •
28
And now if ye have judges, and they do not judge you according to the law which has been given, ye can cause that they may be judged of a higher judge.
• • •
39
Therefore, it came to pass that they assembled themselves together in
bodies throughout the land, to cast in their voices concerning who
should be their judges, to judge them according to the law which had been given them; and they were exceedingly rejoiced because of the liberty which had been granted unto them.
18
Now, there was a punishment affixed, and a just law given, which brought remorse of conscience unto man.
19
Now, if there was no law given—if a man murdered he should die—would he be afraid he would die if he should murder?
20
And also, if there was no law given against sin men would not be afraid to sin.
21
And if there was no law given, if men sinned what could justice do, or mercy either, for they would have no claim upon the creature?
22
But there is a law given,
and a punishment affixed, and a repentance granted; which repentance,
mercy claimeth; otherwise, justice claimeth the creature and executeth
the law, and the law inflicteth the punishment; if not so, the works of justice would be destroyed, and God would cease to be God.
13
The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law
by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth
upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of
all things.

21
And they who are not sanctified through the law which I have given unto you, even the law of Christ, must inherit another kingdom, even that of a terrestrial kingdom, or that of a telestial kingdom.
• • •
36
All kingdoms have a law given;
• • •
38
And unto every kingdom is given a law; and unto every law there are certain bounds also and conditions.
• • •
42
And again, verily I say unto you, he hath given a law unto all things, by which they move in their times and their seasons;
3
Therefore, prepare thy heart to receive and obey the instructions which I am about to give unto you; for all those who have this law revealed unto them must obey the same.
• • •
12
I am the Lord thy God; and I give unto you this commandment—that no man shall come unto the Father but by me or by my word, which is my law, saith the Lord.
• • •
28
I am the Lord thy God, and will give unto thee the law of my Holy Priesthood, as was ordained by me and my Father before the world was.

37
Abraham received concubines, and they bore him children; and it was accounted unto him for righteousness, because they were given unto him, and he abode in my law;
as Isaac also and Jacob did none other things than that which they were
commanded; and because they did none other things than that which they
were commanded, they have entered into their exaltation, according to
the promises, and sit upon thrones, and are not angels but are gods.
• • •
48
And again, verily I say unto you, my servant Joseph, that whatsoever you give on earth, and to whomsoever you give any one on earth, by my word and according to my law,
it shall be visited with blessings and not cursings, and with my power,
saith the Lord, and shall be without condemnation on earth and in
heaven.
• • •
61
And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood—if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse another, and the first give
her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and
have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit
adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.
62
And if he have ten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him; therefore is he justified.

65
Therefore, it shall be lawful in me, if she receive not this law, for him to receive all things whatsoever I, the Lord his God, will give
unto him, because she did not believe and administer unto him according
to my word; and she then becomes the transgressor; and he is exempt
from the law of Sarah, who administered unto Abraham according to the law when I commanded Abraham to take Hagar to wife.
