"By the hand of the Lord"
-
3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord
in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did
eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this
wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
-
14 And it came to
pass that my father, Lehi, also found upon the plates of brass a
genealogy of his fathers; wherefore he knew that he was a descendant of
Joseph; yea, even that Joseph who was the son of Jacob, who was sold
into Egypt, and who was preserved by the hand of the Lord, that he might preserve his father, Jacob, and all his household from perishing with famine.
-
5 But, said he,
notwithstanding our afflictions, we have obtained a land of promise, a
land which is choice above all other lands; a land which the Lord God
hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheritance of my seed.
Yea, the Lord hath covenanted this land unto me, and to my children
forever, and also all those who should be led out of other countries by the hand of the Lord.
-
6 Wherefore, I,
Lehi, prophesy according to the workings of the Spirit which is in me,
that there shall none come into this land save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord.
-
12 And I, Nephi, had
also brought the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass;
and also the ball, or compass, which was prepared for my father by the hand of the Lord, according to that which is written.
-
6 Behold, hearken ye unto my precept; if they shall say there is a miracle wrought by the hand of the Lord, believe it not; for this day he is not a God of miracles; he hath done his work.
-
16 And they journeyed in the wilderness, and were brought by the hand of the Lord across the great waters, into the land where Mosiah discovered them; and they had dwelt there from that time forth.
-
2 And it came to
pass that he had three sons; and he called their names Mosiah, and
Helorum, and Helaman. And he caused that they should be taught in all
the language of his fathers, that thereby they might become men of
understanding; and that they might know concerning the prophecies which
had been spoken by the mouths of their fathers, which were delivered
them by the hand of the Lord.
-
16 And moreover, he
also gave him charge concerning the records which were engraven on the
plates of brass; and also the plates of Nephi; and also, the sword of
Laban, and the ball or director, which led our fathers through the
wilderness, which was prepared by the hand of the Lord that thereby they might be led, every one according to the heed and diligence which they gave unto him.
-
15 And they have been kept and preserved by the hand of the Lord, that he should discover to every creature who should possess the land the iniquities and abominations of his people;
-
25 Therefore, choose
you by the voice of this people, judges, that ye may be judged
according to the laws which have been given you by our fathers, which
are correct, and which were given them by the hand of the Lord.
-
28 Nevertheless, the Nephites being strengthened by the hand of the Lord,
having prayed mightily to him that he would deliver them out of the
hands of their enemies, therefore the Lord did hear their cries, and did
strengthen them, and the Lamanites and the Amlicites did fall before
them.
-
22 Yea, and after having been delivered of God out of the land of Jerusalem, by the hand of the Lord;
having been saved from famine, and from sickness, and all manner of
diseases of every kind; and they having waxed strong in battle, that
they might not be destroyed; having been brought out of bondage time
after time, and having been kept and preserved until now; and they have
been prospered until they are rich in all manner of things—
-
4 Behold, it has
been prophesied by our fathers, that they should be kept and handed down
from one generation to another, and be kept and preserved by the hand of the Lord
until they should go forth unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and
people, that they shall know of the mysteries contained thereon.
-
19 Behold, this we
know, that he was a righteous man; and the saying went abroad in the
church that he was taken up by the Spirit, or buried by the hand of the Lord,
even as Moses. But behold, the scriptures saith the Lord took Moses
unto himself; and we suppose that he has also received Alma in the
spirit, unto himself; therefore, for this cause we know nothing
concerning his death and burial.
-
7 And there were
many in the church who believed in the flattering words of Amalickiah,
therefore they dissented even from the church; and thus were the affairs
of the people of Nephi exceedingly precarious and dangerous,
notwithstanding their great victory which they had had over the
Lamanites, and their great rejoicings which they had had because of
their deliverance by the hand of the Lord.
-
6 And it came to
pass that when we had gathered in all our people in one to the land of
Cumorah, behold I, Mormon, began to be old; and knowing it to be the
last struggle of my people, and having been commanded of the Lord that I
should not suffer the records which had been handed down by our
fathers, which were sacred, to fall into the hands of the Lamanites,
(for the Lamanites would destroy them) therefore I made this record out
of the plates of Nephi, and hid up in the hill Cumorah all the records
which had been entrusted to me by the hand of the Lord, save it were these few plates which I gave unto my son Moroni.
-
26 And no one need
say they shall not come, for they surely shall, for the Lord hath spoken
it; for out of the earth shall they come, by the hand of the Lord,
and none can stay it; and it shall come in a day when it shall be said
that miracles are done away; and it shall come even as if one should
speak from the dead.
-
6 And it came to
pass that they did travel in the wilderness, and did build barges, in
which they did cross many waters, being directed continually by the hand of the Lord.
-
28 And never could be a people more blessed than were they, and more prospered by the hand of the Lord. And they were in a land that was choice above all lands, for the Lord had spoken it.
