13
¶ But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14
Woe unto you,
scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and
for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater
damnation.
15
Woe unto you,
scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make
one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child
of hell than yourselves.
16
Woe unto you, ye
blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is
nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a
debtor!
• • •
23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
• • •
25
Woe unto you,
scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of
the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and
excess.
• • •
27
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
• • •
29
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
42
But woe unto you,
Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass
over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not
to leave the other undone.
43
Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
44
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
• • •
46
And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
47
Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
• • •
52
Woe unto you,
lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not
in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

3
But, wo, wo, unto you
that are not pure in heart, that are filthy this day before God; for
except ye repent the land is cursed for your sakes; and the Lamanites,
which are not filthy like unto you, nevertheless they are cursed with a sore cursing, shall scourge you even unto destruction.
-
26
I say unto you, wo be unto you
for perverting the ways of the Lord! For if ye understand these things
ye have not taught them; therefore, ye have perverted the ways of the
Lord.
-
25
Yea, wo be unto you because of that great abomination which has come among you; and ye have united yourselves unto it, yea, to that secret band which was established by Gadianton!
• • •
27
Yea, wo be unto you because of your wickedness and abominations!
-
16
Wo unto you
rich men, that will not give your substance to the poor, for your
riches will canker your souls; and this shall be your lamentation in the
day of visitation, and of judgment, and of indignation: The harvest is
past, the summer is ended, and my soul is not saved!
17
Wo unto you
poor men, whose hearts are not broken, whose spirits are not contrite,
and whose bellies are not satisfied, and whose hands are not stayed from
laying hold upon other men’s goods, whose eyes are full of greediness,
and who will not labor with your own hands!
