17
And ye shall observe thefeastof unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
4
And what he did unto the armyof Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the Lord hath destroyed them unto this day;
8
And he stood and cried unto the armiesof Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.
• • •
10
And the Philistine said, I defy the armiesof Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
• • •
23
And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armiesof the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
• • •
26
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done
to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach
from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armiesof the living God?
• • •
36
Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armiesof the living God.
• • •
45
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and
with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lordof hosts, the God of the armiesof Israel, whom thou hast defied.
3
And Abijah set the battle in array with an armyof valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valour.
8
And Asa had an armyof men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
24
For the armyof the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the Lord delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash.
7
But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the armyof Israel go with thee; for the Lordis not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.
• • •
9
And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the armyof Israel? And the man of God answered, The Lord is able to give thee much more than this.
2
And he spake before his brethren and the armyof
Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify
themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will
they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
11
But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the armyof the Chaldeans, and for fear of the armyof the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.
10
For though ye had smitten the whole armyof the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
11
¶ And it came to pass, that when the armyof the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
2
Against Egypt, against the armyof Pharaoh-necho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.
35
And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the armyof heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
8
And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
34
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armiesof the aliens.
2
Therefore let us go up; let us be strong like unto Moses; for he truly spake unto the waters of the Red Sea and they divided hither and thither, and our fathers came through, out of captivity, on dry ground, and the armiesof Pharaoh did follow and were drowned in the waters of the Red Sea.
13
And it came to pass also that the armiesof the Lamanites came down out of the land of Nephi, to battle against his people. But behold, king Benjamin gathered together his armies, and he did stand against them; and he did fight with the strength of his own arm, with the sword of Laban.
1
And it came to pass that the armyof the king returned, having searched in vain for the people of the Lord.
• • •
6
And Gideon pursued after him and was about to get upon the tower to slay
the king, and the king cast his eyes round about towards the land of Shemlon, and behold, the armyof the Lamanites were within the borders of the land.
1
Now Alma, having been warned of the Lord that the armiesof
king Noah would come upon them, and having made it known to his people,
therefore they gathered together their flocks, and took of their grain, and departed into the wilderness before the armiesof king Noah.
• • •
25
For behold, it came to pass that while they were in the land of Helam, yea, in the city of Helam, while tilling the land round about, behold an armyof the Lamanites was in the borders of the land.
• • •
30
Now the armiesof the Lamanites, which had followed after the people of king Limhi, had been lost in the wilderness for many days.
20
Now it came to pass that not many days after the battle which was fought in the land of Zarahemla, by the Lamanites and the Amlicites, that there was another armyof the Lamanites came in upon the people of Nephi, in the same place where the first army met the Amlicites.
2
For behold, the armiesof the Lamanites had come in upon the wilderness side, into the borders of the land, even into the city of Ammonihah, and began to slay the people and destroy the city.
• • •
5
Therefore, he that had been appointed chief captain over the armiesof
the Nephites, (and his name was Zoram, and he had two sons, Lehi and
Aha)—now Zoram and his two sons, knowing that Alma was high priest over
the church, and having heard that he had the spirit of prophecy, therefore they went unto him and desired of him to know whither the Lord would that they should go into the wilderness in search of their brethren, who had been taken captive by the Lamanites.
• • •
8
And they came upon the armiesof
the Lamanites, and the Lamanites were scattered and driven into the
wilderness; and they took their brethren who had been taken captive by
the Lamanites, and there was not one soul of them had been lost that were taken captive. And they were brought by their brethren to possess their own lands.
1
And now it came to pass that after the people of Ammon were established in the land of Jershon, and a church also established in the land of Jershon, and the armiesof the Nephites were set round about the land of Jershon, yea, in all the borders round about the land of Zarahemla; behold the armiesof the Lamanites had followed their brethren into the wilderness.
13
And the people of Ammon departed out of the land of Jershon, and came over into the land of Melek, and gave place in the land of Jershon for the armiesof the Nephites, that they might contend with the armiesof the Lamanites and the armiesof the Zoramites; and thus commenced a war betwixt the Lamanites and the Nephites, in the eighteenth year of the reign of the judges; and an account shall be given of their wars hereafter.
15
And it came to pass as the armiesof the Lamanites had gathered together in the land of Antionum, behold, the armiesof the Nephites were prepared to meet them in the land of Jershon.
16
Now, the leader of the Nephites, or the man
who had been appointed to be the chief captain over the Nephites—now the
chief captain took the command of all the armiesof the Nephites—and his name was Moroni;
17
And Moroni took all the command, and the government of their wars. And he was only twenty and five years old when he was appointed chief captain over the armiesof the Nephites.
• • •
19
And when the armiesof the Lamanites saw that the people of
Nephi, or that Moroni, had prepared his people with breastplates and
with arm-shields, yea, and also shields to defend their heads, and also
they were dressed with thick clothing—
20
Now the armyof
Zerahemnah was not prepared with any such thing; they had only their
swords and their cimeters, their bows and their arrows, their stones and
their slings; and they were naked, save it were a skin which was girded
about their loins; yea, all were naked, save it were the Zoramites and
the Amalekites;
21
But they were not armed with breastplates, nor shields—therefore, they were exceedingly afraid of the armiesof the Nephites because of their armor, notwithstanding their number being so much greater than the Nephites.
22
Behold, now it came to pass that they durst not come against the Nephites in the borders of Jershon; therefore they departed out of the land of Antionum into the wilderness, and took their journey round about in the wilderness, away by the head of the river Sidon, that they might come into the land of Manti and take possession of the land; for they did not suppose that the armiesof Moroni would know whither they had gone.
23
But it came to pass, as soon as they had departed into the wilderness
Moroni sent spies into the wilderness to watch their camp; and Moroni,
also, knowing of the prophecies of Alma, sent certain men unto him, desiring him that he should inquire of the Lord whither the armiesof the Nephites should go to defend themselves against the Lamanites.
24
And it came to pass that the word of the Lord came unto Alma, and Alma informed the messengers of Moroni, that the armiesof the Lamanites were marching round about in the wilderness, that they might come over into the land of Manti, that they might commence an attack upon the weaker part of the people. And those messengers went and delivered the message unto Moroni.
• • •
34
And it came to pass that the Lamanites came up on the north of the hill, where a part of the armyof Moroni was concealed.
• • •
36
And it came to pass that the Lamanites, when they saw the Nephites
coming upon them in their rear, turned them about and began to contend
with the armyof Lehi.
• • •
42
And the Lamanites did flee again before them, towards the land of Manti; and they were met again by the armiesof Moroni.
• • •
52
Therefore the armiesof Moroni encircled them about, yea, even on both sides of the river, for behold, on the east were the men of Lehi.
53
Therefore when Zerahemnah saw the men of Lehi on the east of the river Sidon, and the armiesof Moroni on the west of the river Sidon, that they were encircled about by the Nephites, they were struck with terror.
11
And now it came to pass that when Moroni, who was the chief commander of the armiesof the Nephites, had heard of these dissensions, he was angry with Amalickiah.
• • •
32
And it came to pass that he did according to his desires, and marched forth into the wilderness, and headed the armiesof Amalickiah.
• • •
34
Now, Moroni being a man who was appointed by the chief judges and the voice of the people, therefore he had power according to his will with the armiesof the Nephites, to establish and to exercise authority over them.
8
Now it was not Amalickiah’s intention to give them battle according to the commandments of the king; but behold, it was his intention to gain favor with the armiesof the Lamanites, that he might place himself at their head and dethrone the king and take possession of the kingdom.
• • •
14
And it came to pass that Lehonti came down with his men and surrounded the men of Amalickiah, so that before they awoke at the dawn of day they were surrounded by the armiesof Lehonti.
8
Yea, he had been strengthening the armiesof the Nephites, and erecting small forts, or places of resort; throwing up banks of earth round about to enclose his armies, and also building walls of stone to encircle them about, round about their cities and the borders of their lands; yea, all round about the land.
1
And now it came to pass in the eleventh month of the nineteenth year, on the tenth day of the month, the armiesof the Lamanites were seen approaching towards the land of Ammonihah.
28
And it came to pass that when the people of Morianton, who were led by a man whose name was Morianton, found that the people of Lehi had fled to the camp of Moroni, they were exceedingly fearful lest the armyof Moroni should come upon them and destroy them.
20
And it came to pass they sent embassies to the armyof the Lamanites, which protected the city of Mulek, to their leader, whose name was Jacob, desiring him that he would come out with his armies to meet them upon the plains between the two cities. But behold, Jacob, who was a Zoramite, would not come out with his army to meet them upon the plains.
• • •
23
And it came to pass that the armiesof the Lamanites did march forth against Teancum, supposing by their numbers to overpower Teancum because of the smallness of his numbers. And as Teancum saw the armiesof the Lamanites coming out against him he began to retreat down by the seashore, northward.
6
And it came to pass that Moroni had thus gained a victory over one of the greatest of the armiesof the Lamanites, and had obtained possession of the city of Mulek, which was one of the strongest holds of the Lamanites in the land of Nephi; and thus he had also built a stronghold to retain his prisoners.
• • •
8
And now it came to pass that the armiesof the Lamanites, on the west sea, south, while in the absence of Moroni on account of
some intrigue amongst the Nephites, which caused dissensions amongst
them, had gained some ground over the Nephites, yea, insomuch that they
had obtained possession of a number of their cities in that part of the land.
21
And then he caused the men who were with him to withdraw a pace from them, and surround the armiesof the Lamanites.
• • •
24
Now behold, this was the desire of Moroni. He took them prisoners of war, and took possession of the city, and caused that all the prisoners should be liberated, who were Nephites; and they did join the armyof Moroni, and were a great strength to his army.
10
And I did join my two thousand sons, (for they are worthy to be called sons) to the armyof Antipus, in which strength Antipus did rejoice exceedingly; for behold, his army had been reduced by the Lamanites because their forces had slain a vast number of our men, for which cause we have to mourn.
• • •
34
And now, in the city Antiparah were stationed the strongest armyof the Lamanites; yea, the most numerous.
• • •
36
And it came to pass that we did flee before them, northward. And thus we did lead away the most powerful armyof the Lamanites;
37
Yea, even to a considerable distance, insomuch that when they saw the armyof
Antipus pursuing them, with their might, they did not turn to the right
nor to the left, but pursued their march in a straight course after us;
and, as we suppose, it was their intent to slay us before Antipus
should overtake them, and this that they might not be surrounded by our
people.
• • •
46
For as I had ever called them my sons (for they were all of
them very young) even so they said unto me: Father, behold our God is
with us, and he will not suffer that we should fall; then let us go
forth; we would not slay our brethren if they would let us alone;
therefore let us go, lest they should overpower the armyof Antipus.
• • •
49
And it came to pass that I did return with my two thousand against these Lamanites who had pursued us. And now behold, the armiesof Antipus had overtaken them, and a terrible battle had commenced.
50
The armyof Antipus being weary, because of their long march in so short a space of time, were about to fall into the hands of the Lamanites; and had I not returned with my two thousand they would have obtained their purpose.
• • •
52
And it came to pass that the Lamanites took courage, and began to pursue
them; and thus were the Lamanites pursuing them with great vigor when
Helaman came upon their rear with his two thousand, and began to slay
them exceedingly, insomuch that the whole armyof the Lamanites halted and turned upon Helaman.
• • •
57
And as we had no place for our prisoners, that we could guard them to keep them from the armiesof the Lamanites, therefore we sent them to the land of Zarahemla, and a part of those men who were not slain of Antipus, with them; and the remainder I took and joined them to my stripling Ammonites, and took our march back to the city of Judea.
17
But it came to pass that on the morrow they did return. And now behold, we did not inquire of
them concerning the prisoners; for behold, the Lamanites were upon us,
and they returned in season to save us from falling into their hands.
For behold, Ammoron had sent to their support a new supply of provisions and also a numerous armyof men.
• • •
31
And they cried unto us, saying—Behold, the armiesof the Lamanites are marching towards the city of Cumeni; and behold, they will fall upon them, yea, and will destroy our people.
8
But it came to pass that we did receive food, which was guarded to us by an armyof
two thousand men to our assistance; and this is all the assistance
which we did receive, to defend ourselves and our country from falling
into the hands of our enemies, yea, to contend with an enemy which was innumerable.
• • •
29
And it came to pass that when the armiesof
the Lamanites did arrive near the city, and saw that we were prepared
to meet them, they were astonished exceedingly and struck with great
fear, insomuch that they did flee into the wilderness.
30
Yea, and it came to pass that the armiesof the Lamanites did flee out of all this quarter of the land. But behold, they have carried with them many women and children out of the land.
3
And it came to pass that he immediately sent an epistle to Pahoran,
desiring that he should cause men to be gathered together to strengthen
Helaman, or the armiesof Helaman, insomuch that he might with ease maintain that part of the land which he had been so miraculously prospered in regaining.
• • •
8
And their armies were so numerous that the remainder of the people of Nephihah were obliged to flee before them; and they came even and joined the armyof Moroni.
12
And it came to pass in the commencement of the thirty and first year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi, Moroni immediately caused that provisions should be sent, and also an armyof six thousand men should be sent unto Helaman, to assist him in preserving that part of the land.
13
And he also caused that an armyof six thousand men, with a sufficient quantity of food, should be sent to the armiesof Lehi and Teancum. And it came to pass that this was done to fortify the land against the Lamanites.
• • •
24
And now, when the Lamanites awoke and saw that the armiesof Moroni were within the walls, they were affrighted exceedingly, insomuch that they did flee out by the pass.
• • •
30
Now it came to pass that Moroni, after he had obtained possession of the city of Nephihah, having taken many prisoners, which did reduce the armiesof the Lamanites exceedingly, and having regained many of the Nephites who had been taken prisoners, which did strengthen the armyof Moroni exceedingly; therefore Moroni went forth from the land of Nephihah to the land of Lehi.
31
And it came to pass that when the Lamanites saw that Moroni was coming
against them, they were again frightened and fled before the armyof Moroni.
• • •
33
And the armiesof the Lamanites were all gathered together, insomuch that they were all in one body in the land of Moroni. Now Ammoron, the king of the Lamanites, was also with them.
15
And also in this same year they came down with a numerous army to war against the people of Moronihah, or against the armyof Moronihah, in the which they were beaten and driven back again to their own lands, suffering great loss.
14
And it came to pass in the forty and first year of the reign of the judges, that the Lamanites had gathered together an innumerable armyof
men, and armed them with swords, and with cimeters and with bows, and
with arrows, and with head-plates, and with breastplates, and with all
manner of shields of every kind.
6
And the Nephites and the armiesof Moronihah were driven even into the land of Bountiful;
• • •
8
And thus those dissenters of the Nephites, with the help of a numerous armyof the Lamanites, had obtained all the possession of the Nephites which was in the land southward. And all this was done in the fifty and eighth and ninth years of the reign of the judges.
21
And it came to pass that they were taken by an armyof the Lamanites and cast into prison; yea, even in that same prison in which Ammon and his brethren were cast by the servants of Limhi.
11
Therefore he was constrained to speak more unto them saying: Behold, my
brethren, have ye not read that God gave power unto one man, even Moses,
to smite upon the waters of the Red Sea, and
they parted hither and thither, insomuch that the Israelites, who were
our fathers, came through upon dry ground, and the waters closed upon
the armiesof the Egyptians and swallowed them up?
28
And it came to pass that it was expedient that there should be a stop put to this work of destruction; therefore they sent an armyof strong men into the wilderness and upon the mountains to search out this band of robbers, and to destroy them.
• • •
32
And it came to pass that thus ended this year. And the robbers did
still increase and wax strong, insomuch that they did defy the whole armiesof the Nephites, and also of the Lamanites; and they did cause great fear to come unto the people upon all the face of the land.
14
And he caused that fortifications should be built round about them, and
the strength thereof should be exceedingly great. And he caused that armies, both of the Nephites and of the Lamanites, or of
all them who were numbered among the Nephites, should be placed as
guards round about to watch them, and to guard them from the robbers day
and night.
• • •
17
And it came to pass that Lachoneus did appoint chief captains over all the armiesof the Nephites, to command them at the time that the robbers should come down out of the wilderness against them.
18
Now the chiefest among all the chief captains and the great commander of all the armiesof the Nephites was appointed, and his name was Gidgiddoni.
1
And it came to pass that in the latter end of the eighteenth year those armiesof robbers had prepared for battle, and began to come down and to sally forth from the hills, and out of the mountains, and the wilderness, and their strongholds, and their secret places, and began to take possession of the lands, both which were in the land south and which were in the land north, and began to take possession of all the lands which had been deserted by the Nephites, and the cities which had been left desolate.
• • •
7
And it came to pass that they did come up to battle; and it was in the
sixth month; and behold, great and terrible was the day that they did
come up to battle; and they were girded about after the manner of
robbers; and they had a lamb-skin about their loins, and they were dyed
in blood, and their heads were shorn, and they had head-plates upon
them; and great and terrible was the appearance of the armiesof Giddianhi, because of their armor, and because of their being dyed in blood.
8
And it came to pass that the armiesof the Nephites, when they saw the appearance of the armyof
Giddianhi, had all fallen to the earth, and did lift their cries to the
Lord their God, that he would spare them and deliver them out of the hands of their enemies.
9
And it came to pass that when the armiesof Giddianhi saw this they began to shout with a loud voice, because of their joy, for they had supposed that the Nephites had fallen with fear because of the terror of their armies.
10
But in this thing they were disappointed, for the Nephites did not fear
them; but they did fear their God and did supplicate him for protection;
therefore, when the armiesof Giddianhi did rush upon them they were prepared to meet them; yea, in the strength of the Lord they did receive them.
• • •
15
And it came to pass that the armiesof the Nephites did return again to their place of
security. And it came to pass that this nineteenth year did pass away,
and the robbers did not come again to battle; neither did they come
again in the twentieth year.
• • •
25
And this did they do in the night-time, and got on their march beyond
the robbers, so that on the morrow, when the robbers began their march,
they were met by the armiesof the Nephites both in their front and in their rear.
2
Therefore it came to pass that in my sixteenth year I did go forth at the head of an armyof the Nephites, against the Lamanites; therefore three hundred and twenty and six years had passed away.
• • •
9
And now, the Lamanites had a king, and his name was Aaron; and he came against us with an armyof
forty and four thousand. And behold, I withstood him with forty and
two thousand. And it came to pass that I beat him with my army that he fled before me. And behold, all this was done, and three hundred and thirty years had passed away.
• • •
25
And it came to pass that we did contend with an armyof thirty thousand against an armyof fifty thousand. And it came to pass that we did stand before them with such firmness that they did flee from before us.
6
And there we did place our armies, that we might stop the armiesof the Lamanites, that they might not get possession of any of our lands; therefore we did fortify against them with all our force.
2
And it came to pass that the armiesof the Nephites were driven back again to the land of Desolation. And while they were yet weary, a fresh armyof the Lamanites did come upon them; and they had a sore battle, insomuch that the Lamanites did take possession of the city Desolation, and did slay many of the Nephites, and did take many prisoners.
• • •
4
And it was because the armiesof
the Nephites went up unto the Lamanites that they began to be smitten;
for were it not for that, the Lamanites could have had no power over
them.
7
And it came to pass that my people, with their wives and their children, did now behold the armiesof the Lamanites marching towards them; and with that awful fear of death which fills the breasts of all the wicked, did they await to receive them.
6
And it came to pass that when they had slain the armyof
Jared they were about to slay him also; and he plead with them that
they would not slay him, and he would give up the kingdom unto his
father. And it came to pass that they did grant unto him his life.
9
And it came to pass after the space of many years, Morianton, (he being a descendant of Riplakish) gathered together an armyof
outcasts, and went forth and gave battle unto the people; and he gained
power over many cities; and the war became exceedingly sore, and did
last for the space of many years; and he did gain power over all the land, and did establish himself king over all the land.
5
And it came to pass that Coriantumr did lay siege to the wilderness; and the brother of Shared did march forth out of the wilderness by night, and slew a part of the armyof Coriantumr, as they were drunken.
• • •
8
Now the brother of Shared, whose name was Gilead, also received great strength to his army, because of secret combinations.
• • •
12
And it came to pass that he fought with Lib, in which Lib did smite upon his arm that he was wounded; nevertheless, the armyof Coriantumr did press forward upon Lib, that he fled to the borders upon the seashore.
• • •
14
And it came to pass that Lib did smite the armyof Coriantumr, that they fled again to the wilderness of Akish.
• • •
16
And when he had come to the plains of Agosh he gave battle unto Lib, and he smote upon him until he died; nevertheless, the brother of
Lib did come against Coriantumr in the stead thereof, and the battle
became exceedingly sore, in the which Coriantumr fled again before the armyof the brother of Lib.
• • •
18
And there went a fear of Shiz throughout all the land; yea, a cry went forth throughout the land—Who can stand before the armyof Shiz? Behold, he sweepeth the earth before him!
• • •
20
And they were divided; and a part of them fled to the armyof Shiz, and a part of them fled to the armyof Coriantumr.
• • •
27
And so terrible was the destruction among the armiesof Shiz that the people began to be frightened, and began to flee before the armiesof Coriantumr; and they fled to the land of Corihor, and swept off the inhabitants before them, all them that would not join them.
28
And they pitched their tents in the valley of Corihor; and Coriantumr pitched his tents in the valley of Shurr. Now the valley of Shurr was near the hill Comnor; wherefore, Coriantumr did gather his armies together upon the hill Comnor, and did sound a trumpet unto the armiesof Shiz to invite them forth to battle.
• • •
31
Now the loss of men, women and children on both sides was so great that Shiz commanded his people that they should not pursue the armiesof Coriantumr; wherefore, they returned to their camp.
10
And it came to pass that the armiesof Coriantumr did press upon the armiesof
Shiz that they beat them, that they caused them to flee before them;
and they did flee southward, and did pitch their tents in a place which
was called Ogath.
11
And it came to pass that the armyof
Coriantumr did pitch their tents by the hill Ramah; and it was that
same hill where my father Mormon did hide up the records unto the Lord,
which were sacred.
• • •
13
And it came to pass that Ether did behold all the doings of the people; and he beheld that the people who were for Coriantumr were gathered together to the armyof Coriantumr; and the people who were for Shiz were gathered together to the armyof Shiz.
16
And again, my son, there are many widows and their daughters who remain in Sherrizah; and that part of the provisions which the Lamanites did not carry away, behold, the armyof
Zenephi has carried away, and left them to wander whithersoever they
can for food; and many old women do faint by the way and die.
17
